Ideally it would be David Bowman doing level 5, the Lower Caves. Don't know if a month works for that or not.
The second best solution would be to have Zulgyan do level 7, the Palace of Eternal Illusion. Zulg, if you're having trouble finishing it I bet Sham and I could collaborate with you over the next month to get it done.
Lee Barber, who is actually somewhat organized (or at least seems to be relative to me), has already written level 6, so if neither of the above two are feasible we will go with Lee's level. The only reason for the preference for the above two is that we're trying to move down through the dungeon continuously so that players can play along with us. We've now finished levels 1-4 and I think they're all good - I'm actually quite happy with my own, which is somewhat rare for me. Probably that means I made a brutal mistake somewhere. :-)
What are the rest of you up to with your Darkness Beneath installments? Talk about the latest here!

Lower Caves needs to be rewritten from its half-way done state. The map is "done" but I found fault with part of the theme and the general text heavy approach. I'm fairly confident I can clean it up so it still makes sense, though.
With a little inspiration and free time I can have level 5 done for you. I still have to sort out some of the details but it is nearly done in my notes, those ten or so pages just need to find their way from there to submission.
If you'd like to email me in about a week I should have a more definite answer for you. If you'd rather not wait that long I can offer help with maps and ideas for other levels as well.

OK, keep me posted. If you want a little collaboration from me I can probably manage it this issue since my summer teaching got cut. In fact, I might enjoy that, and that would also open the gates to us publishing Lee's MS sooner (since 5 connects to 6). So send me what you got and I'll bounce some ideas back at you.

Sounds great. I'll collect my information and email you what I've got along with comments and general themes. Might be later tonight, might be tomorrow. I think you saw a good bit of it months back via email, as well.

What are the rest of you up to with your Darkness Beneath installments? Talk about the latest here! I sent you some ideas for the Ooze Lord level a while ago but since then I've not done much. I'm still collecting ideas. I've started a weird pseudo-3D map for inspiration. (Click for Flickr pages where you can look at higher resolutions.)

If by written you mean spat out a map and overview... ;D My forum-fu sucks so I don't know how to show the map, or Girls of the Fane. Once again, the plan is to have illustrations make the article seem big. Plus, if I can see level 5 in the next issue, I can smooth the transition stuff. Here are the 3 major concepts behind the Fane: 1) Dudes with "low resistances" are going to have a hard time. 2) Clues about the deeper levels can be sought there, or a magical way to the surface world. 3) OSQUIPS!

What I would like higher levels to have is waterways and chutes down to the Ooze Lord level – toilets, waterfalls, gaping holes, etc. Down there is going to be an interdimensional sewer.

Level 3, Spawning Grounds of the Crab-men has a large waterfall with an undefined landing point. Level 5 might even have a rift for such a purpose, I'll have to check the map again. I like the idea. I think by the time your level is published there will be more than a few such undefined "drops" from the various levels. Referees might appreciate the fact that your level ties all of these together via an interdimensional sewer of sorts.

We're also going to add more interconnections in the print version of the whole shebang. I was pretty sure one of the pools in level 2 went to the ooze lord level, but I didn't mention it because it was too much interconnection information for a stand-alone.

A free photobucket account and IMG tags is my method, Lee.
Kensanata, those maps are very intriguing....keep it coming!

The actual level six "node" is a watering hole between the cave groups. Players would actually have to stop and look around for the Fane entrance (unless they are trailing one of the priestesses). This is the preliminary map: Areas 15&16 also have water, but it is befouled by a slimed visitor from below. Area 9a is an old mine shaft that descends to the Blasphemous Shrine. An unstable magical stairwell also manifests here, a dangerous route to the Hall of Mirrors (although fast if timed correctly).

I was doing this level and 2 things happened: 1) I lost the map 2) I was absorbed by other gaming interests. I'm sorry... I still have 16 dungeon rooms fully described, and the background for the level, and an illustration. Solutions:1. Get back to it and finish the d**n thing. 2. Send you what I've got and you can do with it what you want. 3. Do it collaborately, by e-mail communications (would be interesting, anyone interested? I would help my motivation). Crucial question: how much time do we have?

Hi Zulg -
I think David is taking up level 5 for the next issue, so there should still be plenty of time. I would say though that when you have a minute you should gather your thoughts as they are and send them along - maybe we can get you some inspiration.
Make sure to check out room 40 in level 2 also (issue 5).
