I'll update here with particular needs as well. Knights & Knaves, a magic article and/or new spells, variant classes come to mind off the top of my head.

I plan on submitting a small wilderness hexmap with key for Mutant Future if I can produce a map that isn't shamefully inept.

Cool! FWIW, there are a few people on staff who are sometimes willing to convert/redraw maps if you're not satisfied with them.

Did Ig end up going with "A Few for the Road" as a two-parter? Because if not, I guess I'll have to start planning a #6 submission after all. :0

Yep, it's a two-parter. So 1-3 are in here, 4-6 will be in the next one. You could still submit something else if inspiration strikes though.

A bit early, probably, but I am again very happy to contribute towards the art. I really enjoyed doing the stuff for #5.

Thanks Kelvin! You were a huge help for issue 5, that's for sure.
For open art submissions the deadline is the same as for everything else. For article-art we have another round where we solicit particular images directly, as you alluded to in your post.

I plan to submit more for the Creepies & Crawlies column. Monsters are my favorite thing for D&D, and (IMO) the most useful. The new monsters were always my favorite thing in the old Dragon magazine.

I'm working on an article-length expansion of a recent blog post on humanoid language and its use in game. I think it'll be pretty nifty, if there's interest.

Jeff, I´ll do a map for you, Mystara style, if you dig that. Just shoot me some pencilings of yours. Details via eMail, but I could imagine trading the service for a special edition of the Miscellaneum
Calithena: I´d raise my hand for a Knight´s n Knaves entry.

I always say "send it!" - if it's good and for some reason we get too much stuff for one issue you can be pretty sure it will show up in the next...

Calithena, can you send me the submission guidelines for FO at your convenience? I'm interested in sending in a piece for your consideration that draws from my forthcoming RPG, but I want to make certain I can conform to the guidelines on how stat blocks and other sundries are being handled. Thanks.

The submission guidelines are similar to the ones on Jim Rome's old call-in show: "Have a take and don't suck." I guess I prefer word docs for subs and jpegs for images although we can work with other formats.
I need to read the submission guidelines for other magazines so I know what to say when people ask for these, as they do all the time. Seriously, I just read the stuff and see if it's cool and if it fits together with the other stuff in the issue.
More soon, daughter needs attention.

I guess I prefer word docs for subs and jpegs for images although we can work with other formats. Jim Rome drives me nuts. On the one hand, he's very witty and funny; on the other hand, he seems to pick and choose which athletes he'll be nice to and which ones he's going to tear apart. He's at his best when he is going off on everyone; he's at his worst when he becomes a suck-up and kisses an athlete's butt. Don't sweat it. I was mostly concerned about conforming to your stat block guidelines, but one of your other posts indicates that you take care of that on your end. Enjoy the children, I've got three of my own that keep my head spinning. Cheers, Jeff T.

Possible stuff for FO 6 - another one page dungeon, Tekumel style; OD&D bar-room brawl scenario-cum-board game.
A magic article? I have an idea for one about the proper use of astrology, geomancy, alchemy and other para-magical doings I could write up.

Hi Bert!
The board game sounds cool but I'd have to see it. The magic article sounds like a winner for issue 6, the Tekumel one-page dungeon for issue 7. Send it all along!

hmm...i'd like to do a write up for an NPC - knights and knaves style - of a wizard who has been conceived in play for our re-envisioned FINGOTH campaign. as noted previosuly, we're playing T&T, but i could write it up generic like the old citybooks. as noted, the campaign is cobbled together (mostly at this point) from various FO! articles. what do you think?

I think you should submit it! We always have a need for K&K submissions and if it's cool we will get it in eventually.

Would an outline a mini-campaign setting -- with a full colour map -- be of interest?
(Not sure if I can meet the deadline, however ... )

That would be great, Akrasia! We would certainly get something like that in eventually. If you don't meet the deadline for this issue there's always the next one...or the one after that...

I am looking at the cool subs we already have for issue 6. I already mentioned monsters, spells, and magic articles as things that would benefit this issue in particular. Also if there were a short to medium length social/thieving/noble court/city type adventure that would be good to get into the mix - issue 6 is heavy on the meat and potatoes (that's a good thing, it's just that FO! celebrates variety as well as the classics). Some variant PC classes/races would also be good if anyone has those, esp. ones with a lot of color.
We're very close to being able to start soliciting art already. Cool!
(This doesn't negate any suggestions in this thread BTW, just giving you the update for where we're at.)

Maybe a good system for elemental summoning/magic, or dealing with spirits a la Glorantha, something like that?
