Taking a cue from Jeff Rient's suggestion... Thank you, Dave Arneson, for your work in Blackmoor, in FFC, in your contributions and your creations in this little hobby that we all love so passionately. I've not met you in person, but through the things you've done, the writings you've presented and the games you've influenced, I feel like you've been here all along. I wanted to say that today. Ditto that. It's funny how two men I've never met have affected my life on a personal level. If not for D&D, I would never have met most of my lifelong friends, my wife-to-be (2 months till D-Day!), or had countless hours of enjoyment with this hobby I truly adore. Thank you Dave, for all that you've done for us!

Allow me to add my praise to the growing pile as well.
Just last evening I was reading some of the recollections of the original Blackmoor players on various forums and found myself thinking how truly blessed they were to not only have been there in the beginning but to have yourself, Dave, as the referee.
Your style; your mash-ups of genres; your providing the players just enought rope with which to hang themselves. All of these things inspire me and encourage me to concentrate more of designing things that are fun rather than "realistic" and to throw conventional wisdom to the wind in order to have a good time around the table.
Thank you.

Thanks, Dave, for all you've done and all the good times we've all had as a result. We literally couldn't have done it without you!

I've told you before how much your creation meant to me but I will proudly tell you again: thanks!
Do you ever attend any gaming conventions in Texas, particularly in the Austin area? I'd love to buy you a cup of your preferred beverage and coax some stories out of you sometime ... or even better, game at your table.

I'll add my voice to the chorus here. It wasn't until I discovered OD&D (and by extension Blackmoor and the FFC) and began learning about the roots of our hobby that I truly appreciated Mr. Arneson's contributions. Better late than never, I suppose... Thanks Dave for your fantastic creations and great referee advice, what a tremendous inspiration!

Thanks, Dave, for your wonderful RPG creations. Your Blackmoor always resonated deeper with me than any of the other campaign settings.

I'll jump in as well on this. I've been playing OD&D for a really long time, and my First Fantasy Campaign book has been a must-read for all of these years. The tales of the original Blackmoor campaign have mesmerized me for decades and OD&D has provided me with a lifetime hobby that I have shared with my friends and family.
Thank you, Dave, for all that you did in the creation of this wonderful hobby!

I must add my thanks as well , D&D and castle blackmoor came at I time when I needed them most in 1974 I had a bad accident involving high speed , a tree and a sled was on my back for a year or more one night . my dad came home with " this real hard game that I probably couldn't figure out " . a few days later my friends and I were chasing Orcs and stacking treasure then Dad got me castle Blackmoor for Christmas the next year .

Although knowing about Blackmoor and your great legacy, I recently read about your play-style particulars and the Sci-Fantasy aspect of the game. It was really wonderful knowing that I 'had been doing it right all along'.
Thanks so much for everything!

Thanks for everything, Dave. Getting to shake your hand at Gen Con last year was a great moment in my life. I only wish I'd have had the guts to ask you to sign those OD&D books while I was talking to you.

Seriously, the contribution of the man to popular culture and our lives cannot be understated... nothing less than the gift of world creation and immersion, a new way of imagining things... ave Dave Arneson... I lifted a glass of mead to you tonight, and I will try and track down a copy of FFC in your honour...

As I live in Australia, I have found that amazon.com wouldn't deliver FFC... hopefully some time in the future I will be able to obtain a PDF.
Peace to everyone in the community.

Thanks Mr. Arneson - you changed rules that were hardly even invented! And brought something expansive to the world. It was an honor to interact with you here I'll never forget.

Thank you Dave. Without D&D and Blackmoor my life would have been much poorer.
