I heard rumors he was hospitalized yesterday (or late the day before) and further rumors of his passing. I just got a confirmation from an industry veteran:
"It is now confirmed. Dave's daughter Malia called me a few minutes ago to tell me that Dave passed away last night in the company of his family.
There will be a memorial at the funeral home April 20th, and a service at the church April 21st. Anyone who feels inspired to come is welcome. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home: Bradshaw, 678 Snelling Ave South, St Paul, MN 55116
Details on which charity you could donate to in his name, will be forthcoming from the relatives shortly."

Best regards,
Rainsford

See there on these boards for comments which will be read by the family. Your good thoughts and well-wishes are much appreciated in this time of need.

I'm very sorry to hear this.
Dave and I had actually corresponded a couple months ago about another article for Fight On!. He was planning on getting some of the original Blackmoor crew together for a return to the dungeons, apparently, and we were going to do a writeup of the session with pictures. Alas...
I'm glad we at least got to do the interview and that I got to know him a little bit, as I had with Gary over at Dragonsfoot. Those things make a difference.
Dave will be missed, and what he created and helped create will live on.
