Since this forum doesn't have a "New Posts Since Last Visit" button, I use Search to keep up on new posts.
When I request the newest 40 posts, I get "no results match your search criteria". I am doing the search the same way I always have.
Help?

Whenever I log in, the sections with new posts have blue dots (the other ones have gray dots). Don't you get blue dots? (Or bullets; whatever. The dot at the beginning of the name on the list of topics.)
EDIT: I just tried a search and got the results I expected, so it's possible the problem is on your end. Have you checked your browser for malware lately?

I'll check it now. I just tried another search and got the same results:
No Results Found We could not find any posts that matched your search.

I've cleared the browser cache and deleted all cookies, etc., still no luck. I'm on my linux netbook right now, I'll try on my desktop system when I get home.
The funny thing is: the "10 latest posts" button works just fine, and it (if memory serves) is based on the search engine. So why they search doesn't work I have no idea.

What exactly are you searching for? I mean the specific search term you use. I'll search for the same thing and see what I get.

I use the search engine to search the 40 most recent posts, because the "10 most recent posts" don't extend back far enough much of the time. Up until today, I would go to the search engine, uncheck the PbP games and type "40" into the number of results box, then hit search. The 40 latest posts would pop up, but today I'm getting the "No results" error.

So just to clarify: You're not typing anything in the search field? Is that right?
Because I've never tried that. You're right, it comes up saying that there are no results.
That pretty much exhausts my expertise in such matters. Sorry I couldn't help.

Search field blank. It works here on my Windows desktop system at home, so I guess it is something to do with Linux or the Linux build of Firefox.
Thanks for the assist, Coffee/Nick/Calvin.

(d**n, I gotta change that avatar. Nick is dead, and Calvin is in a game that's been on hiatus for months. Or maybe it's the other way around...)

... and just as mysteriously as it stopped working on my linux machine, it is now working again.
Go figure.
