Here are the threads I found on DF that pertained to Gangbusters. I also found several threads on “Top Secret” or “Boot Hill” that mentioned Gangbusters, but most of those were either discussing percentile or skill systems. There were also some references in the “favourite RPG setting” type threads, but no significant discussion. Any good “noir detective” games out there?A general discussion of historical games of the 1920’s through 1940’s. Paizo has some PDF's for sale of the main rule book (3E) along with a couple of modules for $5 each. DriveThruRPG also has some PDFs for sale at similar prices.

Wow, where's all my royalty checks ? Come on. You know that game designers aren't in it for the money. It's for the fame and the chicks!

As mentioned over on the 'Inspirations' thread, here is an online version of the book Only Yesterday, and Informal History of the 1920s. It was first published in 1931, and is probably the best one-book introduction to the era (and it's FREE! ;D ) xroads.virginia.edu/~HYPER/Allen/Cover.htmlA lot of people recommend Marc McCutcheon's book The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life from Prohibition Through World War II, but I find it rather lacking. Sure, there is a lot of good bits of information, but it is very disjointed, with large gaps. There USED to be a reprint of selected pages of the 1927 Sears & Roebuck catalog, but that, too, it out of print. Also, rather frustratingly, many of the items you'd think you want were on pages that were missing from the reprint. Rope, for example. I managed to score an ORIGINAL copy of the 1923 catalog. (No, you can't have it. ) There is a Call of Cthulhu supplement called The 1920's Investigator's Handbook, if I recall correctly. It is out of print, but I remember it having a lot of useful information for non-horror campaigns; forensics(?), clipping services, firearms, pricelists. Don't quote me - my copy is buried in a box in a storage unit still. <grrrrrrr> Can anyone confirm the contents? (lastly, Chaosium has been bugging me to finish the 1920's sequel to my Gaslight Equipment Catalogue. Maybe life will be cooperative and I can get it written.... <sigh>)
