I know this forum is largely about writing, but it seemed to me that the need for art is strong here. No only to help visualize what is being written about, but to inspire those with writer's block or that evil gremilin "What do I write about?" Anyway, unless I've completely missed it...what do other's think of this?

I started a D&D blog a couple of weeks ago thinking I would post adventure scenarios, module ideas, and whatnot, but pretty much everything I've put up has been art inspired. I'm a crappy artist myself, so I repurpose stuff for the game. I'm not sure how to put art into posts here at OD&D Discussion. I'm a bit E-challenged. I do like art threads, but I'm on dial_up and I have to be real patient for them to load.

Katana, do you mean just having a thread full of illustrations? Or a separate sub-forum full of different art-related threads? I mean, I think both ideas would be great, actually, especially the latter. Fin, would that be a possibility, maybe in the Workshop Forum? As for posting pics, the easiest way to do it sign up for a free account on a pic-hosting site like photobucket or flickr. You simply upload your photos, then copy the handy link provided for inclusion in a website or forum. If you use their code, it keeps the illos to a reasonable size.

Initially I was just thinking a thread to display art that either inspires or just for show. Not for crits...that's left to other places. The main concern with a sub-forum would be possible violation of copyright. With original work, you don't get that. It might also be a place for those who want to learn art or technical, to post W.I.P.'s, but then it's all good.

I don't see copyright issues being a problem as long as, if people post someone else's images, they simply link back to the original site.
I think it'd be great to have a centralized sub-forum to post w.i.p, tips on different techniques, discussions on oldskool art and artists, etc. While you're certainly right in your original observation that most of what gets talked about around here is writing-centered, I don't think anyone would downplay the importance of visual art to this thing we all do!
