Morbius has suggested on his boards that perhaps there would be interest in some sort of combination of first edition Metamorphosis Alpha and OSRIC.
I know that OSRIC isn't OD&D, but perhaps there is interest in such a project. 1E MA was developed as a system very similar to OD&D, so translation into another clone system shouldn't be too difficult. On the other hand, WSmith and others have mentioned the idea of trying to OGL something closer to OD&D, so perhaps that would be a better way to do it.
If anyone is interested, would OSRIC be a good way to present MA? Are there other systems that would work better? Does anyone have any thoughts on this potential project?
EDIT: title change to reflect the notion that it might not be OSRIC but could be LL or another similar system.

I would like to see original Metamorphosis Alpha published again before I tried to re-make it with another game system. And if OSRIC isn't open-content then you have to talk to the writers to get permission. Maybe Castles and Crusades would be a good fit, but it would be the same problem and you would need permission.
Are there any game systems similar to early D&D? (I sorta asked this question in a thread on Labyrinth Lords before I saw this one. Sorry if I ask it twice.)

Good point. OSRIC might not be the best fit because it's AD&D-similar and MA is OD&D similar. My first step is probably to work on an OGL OD&D system...

A quick update: Jim Ward has stated that he doesn't want MA to be part of an OGL type project because he wants to keep all rights to product identity.
Any such doc would be totally unauthorized.
