That was really great! Thanks for posting.
I especially liked the mention of the expedition's photographer. That sort of field photography is a tough calling even in this age of modern safeguards and high-tech cameras, but back in those days, it was a seriously daring line of work that involved months or years away and the real chance of losing all of your film before it ever reached the developers.
