Hey so I've been thinking - some of our regular column names are better than others. I don't mind keeping the old ones but I thought we could consult the hivemind to see if there were better ones available. The magic items has been "Artifacts, Adjuncts, and Oddments" since #1. That's OK, maybe could be better. Then there was "Dungeon Modules" which was supposedly for modular locations you could plug into adventures. There's one of these in the upcoming issue, although it plugs into a tavern rather than a dungeon. Maybe could use something snappier there. "Vicious Vignettes?" Then there is "Tables for Fables" which was written by Age of Fable for some time but now it's just a generic tables column. Might want a new name/logo for that one too. Any ideas? Any other regular features that need special names, etc? With my man tdenmark drawing an amazing column header for Grognard's Grimmoire I wanted to see if we had any other good ideas going forward!

From the other thread: Maybe something a little more inspired than "Dungeon Modules", perhaps something like "Descent into the Depths" or "Into the Unknown". Perhaps?: - Enchanting Encounters - Engaging Encounters - Encounters of Evisceration - Evil DM Inspiration - Intriguing Encounters - Enterprising Encounters - Encounter Ventures - Venturing Encounters Allan. [/quote] Some of those may be worth pondering. Any ideas? Any other regular features that need special names, etc? I tend to think of the D&D play experience as a set of standard encounter types that we mix and match and stitch together into adventures. This is my mental list of those types: - Dungeon dressing - monsters - treasures - traps - hazards - riddles - puzzles - tricks - enigmas - Centerpiece encounters More noodling at grodog.blogspot.com/2017/05/dungeon-strangitude-variations-on.htmlSome might make worthwhile recurring columns. Allan.

Good thoughts Gro.
I'm tempted to try "Encounter Critical...."

If it's a staple I'd keep it, and it does sound appropriately like something from the early days of Dragon.
"Encounter Critical" sounds fine to me.
This name is perfect, why change it?

"Artifacts, Adjuncts, and Oddments" and "Tables for Fables" are both cool and have been around since #1 and #2. It would make sense to have a new logo for the latter one since it is not written by Age of Fables anymore. "Encounter Critical" sounds good!

You could even flavor or tweak the topic of each column, by designating them with a quick subtitle, even just in the TOC or as a sub-header below the logo:
- Encounter Critical: Traps - Tables for Fables: Riddles - Artifacts, Adjuncts, and Oddments: Rods
Or something like that.
Allan.
