Sadly, my Traveller days are mostly behind me. My high school group loved all sorts of games and played a decent amount of science fiction -- mostly Traveller and Metamorphosis Alpha -- but my current group (family) all want to do fantasy and mostly 5E.

Maybe leading your gaming group on an Expedition to the Barrier Peaks might help to inject some Sci-Fi into your games 
Or a Spelljammer/Traveller croossover? But I heard the new Spelljammer books weren't that good, actually.
