I just learned today that the Troll Lord Games group is going to release Barsoom, which is sanctioned by the Burroughs estate. It's supposed to be using the SIEGE mechanic, which makes it compatible with Castles & Crusades as well as Amazing Adventures. Sort of a bummer that it will compete with tdenmark and the "Princess of the Red Planet" product line, but more Barsoom is better than less Barsoom, I think. I see that jeffb scooped me on this in the C&C section. odd74.proboards.com/thread/16363/barsoom-rpg-coming-trolls?page=1&scrollTo=273824

I thought Modiphius had the official license.
It will be interesting to see what the Troll Lords do with it.
I'm not too worried about it, WotRP is broadly Sword & Planet, not just Barsoom.

I thought Modiphius had the official license. Good question. The TLG webpage says "Officially licensed by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc." so I don't know how that works. Maybe Modiphius lost the license? Maybe the estate licensed it to two companies at the same time? Hmmm. trolllord.com/barsoom/

I think I read somewhere Modiphous gave up the license or lost it a year or so ago.

I think I read somewhere Modiphous gave up the license or lost it a year or so ago. That makes sense. Seems like they were pretty much done with it. A flurry of books and miniatures, then nothing. Even the minis were shifting over to electronic sales with self-print option instead of buying a physical product.

Didn't like their system anyway, so I'll be interested to see what the Troll Lords can do.

I wanted to like 2d20, but just never quite got it. I played in a couple of 2d20 Conan sessions and it was okay, but the meta-currency of the system always seemed a little awkward and I never felt like I was able to run a session of the thing. C&C I can handle.
