I've heard of Castle Wolfmoon before. Some modules for it were published back in the '90s; not sure how they relate to the unpublished material.

Cool, thanks for sharing! Could you say a bit more about it? Marketing material presents it as primarily Gary's work, while all I could find online (old forum posts etc) indicates that it was written by Chris with some input/feedback from Gary?

I also have vague recollections about these being written/designed by Chris with Gary’s input/feedback/oversight, but IIRC #3 was supposed to have been more collaborative with more engagement from Gary.

I have the first two books, will pull them out to refresh my memory after NTX (and we can ask Chris about them while there too, as well).

Yeah, but:
a) I'm too lazy , and
b) I figured others in these parts might be interested in the the other content (Shadowrun, Battletech, and of course Snoop cereal )

Oh, I'm the wrong person to ask, I'm afraid. I figured Allan might have the inside scoop, but maybe not; I was just sharing.

I do believe this was originally going to be release in early 2000's. It was a Lejendary Adventure's/D20 system adventure. It was written by Chris Clark and was going to be released by Hekaforge Productions. I don't know if it ever saw the light of day for those systems but I remember reading about it when I was playing LA.

Too long for a screenshot on my phone, but here's the text:

Lots of people are asking me about a pending Kickstarter called Castle Wolfmoon that’s claiming to be something my father wrote as the primary author. Chris Clark, listed as a second author, did work with my dad in many projects in the late 90s and early 2000s as I recall. I don’t recall my father ever talking to me about a Castle Wolfmoon campaign at all and we talked regularly about gaming and his projects. His focus was Castle Zagyg which is back in development now.

I was asked to contribute to this work and was considering it as Chris has been a friend for many years. However placing my dad’s name cover as the lead author seems a bit disingenuous in my opinion. I am not associated with it. The E Gary Gygax Estate is not associated with it to the best of my knowledge.

Why am I posting this? I don’t want people to back it thinking they are getting a finished work from my father when it is likely something more of a concept/outline from 20+ years ago. I’m not omniscient on all things my father did or didn’t do, however it is worth questioning in my opinion.

I liked this picture of my Dad from People magazine many moons ago. He is making his wolfman-like face which seems appropriate

EDIT: I'm not sure what else was said in the FB exchange, but a quick Google search found that Gary was discussing Castle Wolfmoon on EN World in 2002. Tells me that he had something do with the project.

There is plenty of evidence for his involvement, but I think Luke is probably reacting to the fact that they are slapping EGG on the promo materials like he was the main author and that this is some long lost gem of his.

His other concern that comes out in the comments is that if Gygax was really a 50% co-author as promoted, why isn't the Gygax estate involved in publishing this?

From FB that I saw both A and Z are right. Luke isn’t saying his dad definitely wasn't involved. Just the extent and use of his name. Tough thread. I think people will get together and talk it out. I hope.

I think it was a work-for-hire so there isn't any estate involvement. I thought I heard that Ernie and Heidi maybe both put new work into it? Feels a lot like when Gail was upset about the use of the Gygax name for the magazine.

In any event, It should be an interesting project.

I don't know anything, but hasn't Chris been involved in a number of projects with some of the old timers? Either as a co-author or ghoast writer, ofter taking a concept or draft and fleshing it out? I do recall a recent episode of When we were Wizards inferring this happening even in the TSR days for some notibles (not with Chris, but TSR staff doing the bulk of the work).
