I wanted to practice some gratitude today and say how much I like this 'quiet' (in the best way) little forum. I don't participate that much but I can generally rely on it as a drama-free corner of the drama-filled internet. It's well organized and filled with intelligent people. Also, if you have ever watched the Albert Finney version of Scrooge (A Christmas Carol) then I apologize for putting "that" song in your head with the title of this post. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkq7WZTzkLQWant to keep it going? Tell me what you like best about this forum.

Actually, what the subject line made me think of was John Cleese as Robin Hood in the movie TIME BANDITS (1981):
"Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very, very, very, VERY much! ... What awful people."
I will keep it going with practicing some gratitude, as well.
Thank you all for having a forum where most of the members are my age or older!

Great idea for a thread! Agreed, especially with the quiet (drama-free) descriptor.

Smart people, effective moderation of the drama, a casual atmosphere, and polite debates.
These are some of my favorite things.

...drama-free corner of the drama-filled internet. It's well organized and filled with intelligent people. This really has been a main goal since 2007. I know that a lot of message boards seem to foster controversy and drama as their schtick, but I never really wanted that and have fought hard to keep a nice group of folks who just want to sit at the bar and talk about gaming. Sort of like the old TV show "Cheers" but with less alcohol. While this board has grown and morphed somewhat in its 16+ years, it's still pretty much the same old place. Nice thread!

I can sum up what I like about this forum in one word, "respect". People show each other respect here. Tolerating disrespectful behaviour seems to be the norm elsewhere. This has always been a haven in the morass that makes up much of the internet.

As a relative newcomer I'm thankful for the drama-light nature of the fora too. I spent a lot of time reading old topics and discussions here, and really appreciate the exegesis of a 50 year-old game, and the various DIY results of same.

So ... another bit of gratitude. I found an answer here yesterday that I needed and I wasn't even looking "here." I Googled my question and it pointed me to a thread here that discussed the very thing in Oe that kind of threw me, and it was the number of attacks monsters get when using the alternate combat method.

Absolutely! I’ve learned so very much here. I’ve been glad to share here. I’ve zero fear to discuss nor ask here. I’m happily surrounded by my betters. Folk far more experienced and more erudite than myself. To say nothing of all the inspiration as well!
Honestly….being in such an environment is the way I felt as a young person reading all those very many rule books of all those games when ya felt it/they were guiding you in a good way!

And another one! I had a question about monster saving throws and found the answer, or at least opinions and confirmations on the vagueness of the text, here. Ironically, I once again found it by searching Google instead of searching within the forum. The on-board search seems a bit loose.
