All of Jaquays's stuff should be kept in print perpetually in affordable editions. There is no better way to honor an author.

A real pioneer, what with Caverns of Thracia and all. I sourced some of her illustrations for Dice or Die. We got to talking and Jennell told me that for the excellent Catacombs and Campaign Sourcebook, there were 120 pages never published. I can only wonder what wonders they contained. And, who road them into D&D glory!
RIP.

Jennell was important to me. I have no words for this.

Well…d**n. Yes. Another legend. Sheesh. And, passed on the very same day my 91 year old mother just passed, too. Huh.

Well…d**n. Yes. Another legend. Sheesh. And, passed on the very same day my 91 year old mother just passed, too. Huh. I am sorry to hear that. My wife's mother was promoted to glory (as they say in the Salvation Army) years ago, and it is still difficult for my wife to bear the parting.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. I’m much more concerned about my 92 year old father. Anyway. This thread is about Jennell’s contributions.
Concerning that, I’m often so amazed to do the simple math and realize so many of these giants contributed heavily when they were 24 or 28 or even 19 or 18! Crazy!

So sad.
Peter Perla, a game designer and wargame expert, passed recently too.

A very talented artist and designer.
I recently acquired the Runequest supplement Griffon Mountain and reading it and seeing her artwork it led me to reflect on her.
To forge your own path is not for the weak or faint of heart.
To do it without becoming anti-social is also noteworthy.
With deep respect and sympathy I salute her.

Jennell designed a number of TSR projects over the years including FR5 Savage Frontier, in addition to providing cover and interior artwork for classics like Deities & Demigods and Dragon Mountain, and did design and/or art for non-TSR publishers Judges Guild’s Caverns of Thracia and Dark Tower, Flying Buffalo’s Citybook series, Chaosium’s Griffin Mountain, and GDW’s The Traveller Book. The Return to Perinthos projects supports continues to grow!: crowdfundr.com/perinthosPlease consider supporting or donating (or both!) before it closes out on 27 February 2023. Allan.

I'm fortunate in that she was local enough to me that I usually at least saw her and Rebecca in passing once a year at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I took that for granted, I guess, as I never imagined that something like this could strike so relatively quickly and devastatingly.
Treasure the time you have, folks.

Jennell Jaquays was a fixture here in the Bay Area for many years and I have always had tremendous respect for her and her works. Dark Tower and Caverns of Thracia to name a couple. Her pathway inspired me as a young person to not only err on the side of inclusiveness but to be as honest and earnest about where I place my own integrity. Her presence will be missed and it was bittersweet to open up a box of reprinted Dark Tower goodies from Goodman Games today.
