I liked it. A lot. As a long time Godzilla fan from the time I was 6 watching classic B&W Godzilla movies on tv in the 70's and this is my favorite Godzilla movie.
Normally I'm rooting for Godzilla, but I found myself really caring about the characters! Great story, great characters, well told. Highly recommended to go see in the theater.

My mother, my daughter, and I have tickets for the showing that starts in less than 2 hours. (The other woman in my life--my wife--has no interest.) I'll report back here sometime after the show.

Excellent movie.
It is certainly my daughter's favorite Godzilla movie. (My mother is not into Godzilla enough to be able to compare it to the rest.)
For me, I need to see it again and give it time to marinade in my brain. At the very least, it is in my top three Godzilla movies (listed here in order of release):
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953) [Yes, I count this as a Godzilla movie.] Godzilla (1954) Godzilla Minus One (2023)

I mean how can you beat the original Godzilla? With the original Gojira (yes, yes, I know 1954 -was- the original Gojira, go ahead and ruin my joke)

Some of the English dubbed versions aren't too bad. Shin Gojira was weird, but so was the Japanese dub. Felt like a live-action anime to me.
BTW, is the new one dubbed?

Just watched it today with a friend. Hands down, the best movie I've seen at the cinema in years. Sato's music is brilliant too, also the best film score I've heard in years.
Of course it takes a Japanese composer to finally write something epic and menacing and full of adrenaline without resorting to taiko drumz.

Saw it today. Major thumbs up. Best Godzilla movie in decades. This one is just a good film, with the human story a compelling through-arc. All the characters grow, which is rarely the case in too many films. And Godzilla is well done— you’re always guessing as to what will happen next. (Love the final “secret weapon”— especially because I now know it was a real thing!) Best stand-up and cheer moment— the equivalent of Dunkirk! (If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know what I’m talking about, but if you haven’t, it won’t spoil it.) And yeah, it tugs at the heart strings, in no small part to the exceptionally fine acting… not something you usually get in a monster movie!
Glad I saw it. I hope it comes out on DVD, ‘cause I want this one for my collection.
