Well, this is a bummer. The writers/actors strike has caused the film to be delayed to March 2024. www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-66615759So, in the meantime. What RPG system do you think would work best to play Dune? I was disappointed by the Modiphius version, even though the production values were fantastic.

I think you'd have to address timeframe, scale & scope questions first: is this pre-Paul? Pre-Leto? If it's in their timeframe, is the future history able to be altered? Those questions would help narrow down the system choices: if any PC could become Paul or Leto then I think a class-and-level system would work (e.g., White Star), with classes corresponding to PC types (e.g., Messiah, Noble, Retainer, Bene Gesserit, Mentat, etc.). If every PC is a subordinate character to those two main characters then Classic Traveller/Cepheus Engine (the latter of which has a supplement partly inspired by Dune, called Godstar) would be my choice, with new careers & skills built around the setting. One could also use Fading Suns, but the system is akin to the Modiphius 2d20 (i.e., more complicated than I prefer, even though I ran it for several years). My choice would probably be Classic Traveller/Cepheus Engine. I did a bunch of work to convert Fading Suns chargen to CE, with careers/skills based on Fading Suns. With some work it could just as well work for Dune. I think.

Well, my default is always something class-level based. With all of your variant OD&D-like products, tdenmark I'm a bit surprised you don't have a Dune-variant thrown together already.

For the French-speaking crowd, there is the online version made by Olivier Legrand (the same one who "commited" Mazes & Minotaurs) Link: couroberon.com/site2/imperium/
