Much like Maze Rats, I think the tables are fantastic. I've played Knave 1e here and there, and as a ruleset, it's whatever, but as a collection of tables to be inspired from, it's one of my favorites. As far as books of tables go nothing beats the classic Ready Ref Sheets. I've also found Toolbox by AEG to be indispensable. While the revised edition Complete Toolbox is theoretically better with more tables, I've always found the original first edition to be ideal. I have no interest in or need for Knave. With ya on the Ready Ref sheets. We relied heavily on those BITD, and I still get mileage out of them. I have Toolbox on PDF, it does look great but I don't think I ever used it. I tend to prefer physical books when I'm randomly assembling adventures/places and doing lots of rolling (flipping back and forth) As for others I'd recommend: Troll Lord's Engineering Dungeons and Towers of Adventure (Jim Ward). And of course The Tome of Adventure Design is amazing. I have the first one on PDF. Debating picking up the latest version in print.

I’m well aware of it and its popularity, though I guess I’m only just barely old enough to kinda wonder why it’s super exciting. At the same time, I’m also young enough to have never ever heard of Ready Ref Sheets til after Swords & Wizardry was first released which caused me to be interested in OD&D. Lol! Glad I did. It was good timing (at the time, as I mentioned upthread).

I think most of the interest in Knave will come from 5e folks who are less aware of the plethora of rules light options and random table options available going back more than a decade now for some of them (or more if you go back to original stuff like Challenges), largely for free, and who are attracted to his channel by the indie style "OSR" games he favors in reviews. I'll just say I'm not interested but I'm sure it will be an attractive looking book. ymmv
