Keep your eyes open, folks. Starting on JANUARY 13TH (if you know, you know), Elf Lair Games will be having our DOOMSDAY SALE. From 1/13 through the end of January, get 25% off all pdfs on DTRPG and a huge 40% OFF on all through elflair.com! Again, STARTING JANUARY 13TH, just use the coupon code DOOMSDAY40 at checkout on elflair.com and get 40% off your entire order, through the end of the month! It's our gift to you for supporting small publishers as the big bully on the block tries to smack us all down. The 25% off sale on DTRPG should work automatically (no code needed) unless I did something wrong - that site is so messed up, I can never get sales to work. Heh.

I hope you set up your own game system This is in the works right now. Jason has said that when Night Shift hits a 2nd printing there will be some adjustments to make the game free of OGL limitations.

Paizo has announced it will build the ORC license. Hoping JV looks into that.

This is in the works right now. Jason has said that when Night Shift hits a 2nd printing there will be some adjustments to make the game free of OGL limitations. Yes … a good thing. Easy enough too for veteran designers. The PDF of Night Shift: VSW may be updated sooner than the print version. We are doing the updates now but have to sell out the first print run before I can kickstart a second. The changes will debut in print in the forthcoing Wasted Lands: The Dreaming Age swords and sorcery RPG I'm working on. By and large it's literally just rewriting spells and changing the names of ability scores (Strength, Agility, Toughness, Intelligence, Wits, Persona), hit points (Vitality) and armor class (Defense Value). The game will play exactly the same and the changes are intuitive enough that old printings will still work with new printings. Paizo has announced it will build the ORC license. Hoping JV looks into that. When it comes out, I will review it and decide at that time. Right now I am leaning against ANY new OGL from ANY company. Once bitten, twice shy; fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, all that sort of thing. I don't want to be beholden to anyone else. I am, however, considering a free 3PP license for my house systems (O.G.R.E.S., O.R.C.S., and Cd8), which will have SRDs for the associated systems. That will allow publishers to make materials for my games. I am discussing the idea with my attorney and we will see what comes out in the wash.

The ORC license appears to be envisioned as not tied to any company. We’ll see, of course.

The ORC license appears to be envisioned as not tied to any company. We’ll see, of course. They are discussing creating a 403(b) nonprofit for it. ANY license MUST be owned by SOMEONE. Otherwise it is a pointless license. That's just basic law. In the end, the thing is, neither I nor anyone else needs a license at all. Heck, you can even do D&D compatible things without use of a license. If signing onto this one does nothing practical other than announcing solidarity (while also in any way limiting what I can do like the OGL did), there is no point to it. I can announce solidarity and support without the need to sign onto a new license. I get why they are doing what they're doing. I think it's a great move. I also think people are going to start to realize how completely unnecessary it is for a thriving and vibrant TTRPG community moving forward. Again, however, I will review it when it drops and see what it looks like. Only then will I make a final decision regarding what's best for ELG. Hopefully that makes sense.
