I hope this is the right thread to ask this, as it isn't exactly about OD&D.
I am curious about the Mystic, this class is obviously BD&D's take on AD&D's Monk. But I can only find reference to it in the Rules Cyclopedia. Was this the first and only time the class appeared, or is there an earlier version of it in any of the Basic/Expert modules?

As far as I know, it wasn't in any edition besides Rules Cyclopedia. In general, "classic"/"basic" D&D (its many incarnations) had far less options than OD&D + Sups, especially if you consider newsletter classes canon.

Mystics first turned up in the boxed sets, most likely the Master Set.

The problems you'll run into with the Mystic are that their open hand multiple attacks are guaranteed whereas everybody else's only lock in if a 2 is required to hit the foe. Also, when you include weapon mastery in a campaign, you'll need to allow mystics to improve their to-hit chances with their open hand attacks.
