I'm thinking about a new, enterly polished, versiuon of E&S. So I would be happy to get returns from people who tested it enough to see what could be made better, and more generally, any suggestion about it.

Hello Nico, wonderful to see you revisiting this game. Dave Thanks ! You helped so much, Dave ! The new version will be a bit different. I'm considering to move from 2d6 to 3d6, for various reaons - the biggest one being the main system inspiration will be Warriors of Mars, and I'll take more elements from other sources (EPT, Lankhmar, Outdoor survival, even Boot hill and so on). I'm currently building a team of modules writers. The casting should be a good surprise.

Thanks Nico, I've long regretted not attempting a translation of the 2nd edition, but life got in the way. I'm very curious to see what you do with the new one, especially given your inspiration sources. And looking forward to the big reveal of your module writers.

I love the 2d6 system! Why would you change that, if I may ask?
Otherwise, I'd like to see a little more "modern" layout, like each class getting their own page, or generally topics not carrying over to the next page for only a couple of sentences. Like, the character generation procedure has its last paragraph on p.4, then abilities start which also carry over to p.5 for some lines, then the warrior class starts. The "familiar terrain" paragraph is below the Armor table... I find it much easier to navigate when the main topics/headers are at the beginning of the page.
2 HD maximum for an elf or halfling sorcerer felt quite weak at higher levels. I'd say 3 HD would be better suited for higher-level play.
I'd get rid of spell preparation for a more flexible spell-casting. As a DM and especially as a player, I hate having a very situational spell which is never prepared and then you get to a point where you could use it, but it's impossible. It's so much more fun when you remember - Hey, I have a spell for exact that situation! - and save the day. "Spells per day" can stay, but preparing spells has always sucked in my opinion (that's a general opinion including D&D, btw).
In the Spells/Invocations table, a page reference for the spells might come in handy. Alternatively, an alphabetically sorted spell section as an appendix? - I often know what spell I'm looking for, but I don't know the level, so I have to check the table to see which level it is, then flip through the pages to find the spell. After checking the table I don't switch back to the table of contents, but just flip through the next few pages.
Looking forward to a new edition!
