So I was tinkering with the Spell Casting rules, which are given as a paragraph in the rulebook, and decided to convert the text into a table. I thought it might be more visual than the text. I think I have calculated the percents correctly and I have also worked out a d20 table as an alternate. I thought I would share my table in the hopes of generating some NS discussion. Green parts of the table are automatic success, gold parts are spells which a warlock/witch cannot access according to the class charts. The big thing I was wondering is this: I have created the table to include the gold part (can't be cast) with the thought that my wife likes to play witches and would like to cast spells higher than her class allows (or maybe to "overcast" a la 5th edition spells). Has anyone experimented with spells above what the charts say characters can cast, and if so how did you handle it?

Very nice work. I personally am not a fan of having to consult charts for every action; I prefer just to have the target number on my sheet and work from there, and I use 5% and 10% increments to keep it intuitive. Still, as a quick reference, this looks good. As for casting outside of your level, I'm of two minds. First, I can see allowing it (which effectively removes your casting maximum level unless, of course, your percentage is a negative), and undersanding that the consequences of spell failure on higher level spells can be BRUTAL. On the other hand, if the dice are in your favor, you'll have relatively low-level witches blasting away with relatively high level spells, which can result in seriously overpowering the witch. I'm of a mind that game balance, while not QUITE as much an issue in old school gaming, does have to come into play somewhere along the line, and having higher level spells out of reach at low levels gives the Witch something to work towards.
