Everyone has my permission to write and publish (either for free or for profit) Carcosa materials. My only requirement is that you put on the front cover (or, for something without a cover, at the beginning of the article/module/whatever) the following text: For use with Supplement V: CARCOSA by Geoffrey McKinney Available here: carcosa-geoffrey.blogspot.com/That's it! No licenses. No red tape. Nothing like that. Just the above two lines of text. I eagerly await to see what other people do with Carcosa.

Wow... that's pretty awesome! I've been toying about a couple of things and was thinking of asking you this very thing (permission). Though I'm not sure if this will be anytime soon, I'll forward along what I do with it and see what you think. M *EDIT* ... first post and I notice that I'm a Level 0 'Flunky'. : LOL :

*EDIT* ... first post and I notice that I'm a Level 0 'Flunky'. : LOL : Moriarity, you'll notice as you advance that the level names are based on Men & Magic. The sole exception to this is "flunky", which apparently has roots in Dave's Blackmoor campaign whereby Dave only had 3 different levels of fighter: 1. Flunky 2. Hero 3. Super Hero. Apparently, Dave left introductory players in the "flunky" stage until they managed to complete a major quest or some such, at which case they could finally advance. (The game was a lot simpler back then. ) Here's hoping that you don't stay a "flunky" for long!

I like the megadungeon concept, but I'm not sure it fits as cozily within a CARCOSA campaign, so I'm working on a sandbox-style outdoor adventure, which seems like the 'under-the-sun-and-stars' kissin' cousin to the mega-d.
I'm thinking a 50-mile diameter swatch that can be plugged into any of the more generic sections of CARCOSA map turf. A couple towns/fortresses, several lairs with maps, a few creepy odds and ends, and the obligatory sorcerer or two, maybe a couple dozen entries in all.
Is this an appealing format to anyone? Is 50 miles across too small a portion?
Actually, now that I'm thinking about megadungeons for CARCOSA, maybe a... mega-crashed spaceship?

Actually, now that I'm thinking about megadungeons for CARCOSA, maybe a... mega-crashed spaceship? That could work. There are obviously a few built into the main hex map, as well. See for example 0402, 0414, 0714, 0807, 1109, 1903, 2106 and 2214.

There are no requirements for the content of other people's Carcosa contributions. Any and everything is welcome. In my home Carcosa campaign, we played in a big series of caverns that has certain similarities to a megadungeon. It's in hex 1109: the Putrescent Pits of the Amoeboid Gods. And that's what I'm preparing right now for my next Carcosa publication. Release date? 2009. I'm afraid that's as specific a date as I can give right now. I just started going through my notes for the Putrescent Pits last night. I'm sure it will take months to get this thing in order, for several reasons: 1. My notes are extremely laconic. 2. My notes are disordered. 3. My notes for this part of Carcosa were from when I was using a Gamma World/AD&D combo as the rules for my Carcosa campaign. I need to convert everything to OD&D. 4. I will NOT be using any sort of license (such as the OGL) in any of my Carcosa products. There is some stuff in my notes that is useable only through the OGL. So I'm going to need to convert that stuff, too.

If anything, it might seem a little large. A large crashed spaceship has wonderful possibilities, too. I'd love to see what you do with your ideas.

That said, I hope that no one feels that his Carcosa work needs my stamp of approval. Your Carcosa is just as valid as mine. I'll read anyone's Carcosa material as one colleague DM to another.

That actually sounds pretty cool. I love mega Modules. 50 miles is pretty large, if you think you can cover that much then more power to you. As far as a crashed station I think the most exciting possibility would be the a mega-dungeon set on the automated space station described in hex 0803. Once the characters arrive they find themselves trapped, and must evade automated defense systems, robotic surgeons, and the results of their surgeries. Just some more off the cuff ideas that I'd like to be stolen; 1) Fangs of the Snake Men: a sorcerery supplement, and perhaps a small dungeon crawl in hex 0414 or other snake man ruins. 2) 13 Sacrifices: A supplement on the 13 races of men in Carcosa, with a brief history, NPCs, and a sample settlement for each race.

2) 13 Sacrifices: A supplement on the 13 races of men in Carcosa, with a brief history, NPCs, and a sample settlement for each race. That's a great idea. There's that one throwaway line about Jale Men making the best sorcerers that just demands a more in-depth examination of the various races.

Okay, I've gotten some inspiration from the crashed spaceship idea - not a mega-dungeon, more like a micro-dungeon...
The PCs come across a recently-crashed vessel, aboard which three factions struggle for control: the Space Alien crew, the cargo of human captives, and the Irrationalist Space Alien cultists whose blasphemous ceremony provoked the crash.
As they explore the ship, the PCs may ally with one of the factions, or simply kill everyone and let the Old Ones sort them out! I'm thinking a couple dozen rooms/locations, hopefully completed not long after the Thanksgiving holiday.

I recently bought Supplement V and since I’m a fan of sword n sorcery, the cthulhu mythos and tékumel it really set my imagination on fire! I’ve written a collection of monsters, sorcerous items, wilderness encounters and locations, etc and am thinking of submitting this to Fight On!
Here’s a sample of what I’ve created:
THE OMNISCIENT ORACLE OF THE REFULGENT MAZE: In an underground cavern lies a labyrinth of mirrors that are the earthly shape of an otherwise incorporeal intelligence. The entity can use the mirrors as eyes to see anyone that enters the labyrinth, but also as mouths to feed from anyone whose reflection is caught by the mirrors. Each turn all characters in the labyrinth of mirrors must make a successful saving throw against spells or suffer one die of damage. The god can be killed by destroying all 313 mirrors in the labyrinth. The Omniscient Oracle will teach arcane secrets by showing images in the mirrors, but only if first appeased with the sacrifice of a loved one that is interned in the labyrinth for one whole night.
Psionics: 1-4 powers up to four times per day
to invoke: Reflections from beyond the Gate of Death
Reflections from beyond the Gate of Death: This three hour ritual will invoke the Omniscient Oracle of the Refulgent Maze. The sorcerer needs three old Black men for sacrifices. These are to be strangled within a circle of nine man sized mirrors where the sorcerer will then hang him or her self. Upon the moment of death there is a 50%* chance that the sorcerer regains life and returns with answers for any three questions asked to the oracle. * 60% if the sorcerer is a Jale man or woman.
Rejuvenating Bath: This artefact of the Primordial Ones consists of a large chamber full of biomechanical machinery at the centre of which there is a vat filled with jale slime. A damaged character that is put in the vat will heal two hit dice for each turn spent in the slime. A recently dead character that is put in the vat for three turns will either be revived and restored to 1 HD (70%) or turned into a Diseased Guardian (30%). For each turn a character spends in the Rejuvenating Bath there is a 10% risk of being mutated. If someone uses the machine without a proper understanding of how to operate it the patient in the vat will be dissolved into slime.
The Plains of Whispering Glass. Many square miles of multicoloured fluorescent glass. Any character with psionic powers entering this area while having access to the telepathic ability will sense strange voices whispering blasphemous secrets. After listening to the voices for an entire night the character can experience nothing in particular (50%), have his or her sanity permanently shattered (40%) or learn one random sorcerous ritual.
There are four more monsters, two more items, a list of new mutations and seven more encounters. Is this something that would fit in FO?
