Ah, a Mando episode. As I expected, he got expelled from the Covert when asked about the helmet removal. Cool chainmail for Grogu, though.
Naboo Starfighter! Now THIS is Pod Racing!
I love that there was a ring world in this episode and how brutal Mando was with the dark saber.
These bulldog men we're seeing in this show aren't super familiar to me. They seem to be new or some species I've overlooked in the past.
Seeing the fate of Mandalore and hearing some of the old EU elements re-canonized like the Mandalore who was also a Jedi was a nice touch.
Womp Rats in beggar's canyon!
Sweet moves and great to see the New Republic officers again.
An entire episode without Boba? Interesting, but he's mentioned and we see Fennec at least.

C- episode for me due to the total absence of Boba Fett. The only reason I'm giving it a passing grade, I thought the scenes with Amy Sedaris were cute. I got a legitimate laugh out of Mando saying "wizard!"

I got a legitimate laugh out of Mando saying "wizard!" Amy was really good in this. And she dated a Jawa once. Her doing Jawa-ese was worth the price of admission.
I kind of like that Mando injured himself with the Darksaber, too. It shows that lightsabers aren't to be trifled with.

Much improvement over the past couple episodes, not quite as good as ep 2 when Fett was accepted into the Tusken Raider's clan.
This made me really appreciate the Naboo Starfighter. They really threw a bone to prequel fans (who are all in their 20's and 30's now! Think about that).
Ewww, jawas are gross. I'm so grossed out that Peli Motto dated one. Yuck. Her Jawaese was pretty good tho
I realized the problem with this Boba Fett. They already gave the personality he should have had to Din Djarin: stoic badass Clint Eastwood. So there was no where to go further badass. So we're stuck with nice kind hearted Fett, when he should be the toughest baddest hombre in town.
Dallas Bryce Howard (Ron Howard's daughter) directed it and did a fine job I thought.

You're right to praise Bryce Dallas Howard. The episode looked great. None of my criticisms of this episode were the director's "fault."
If I had to choose just one scene to nit-pick, it would be the Armorer's flashback, of the destruction of Mandalore. First of all: I was already critical of the show's heavy use of flashbacks. Now we are seeing the flashbacks of a minor tertiary character, who doesn't meet or interact with Boba Fett? Why is the audience seeing the Armorer's flashbacks but not (for example) Mando, Fennec, or Krrsantan's flashbacks? Or the Gammorean guard in the bacta tank? What is the logic of, when the Armorer thinks of Mandalore, the audience sees Mandalore, but when Mando thinks of Grogu, the audience doesn't see Grogu? Secondly, I have a big problem that the flashback itself looked so fantastic, with the bombers and the Terminator-looking droids. Why did they blow their special effects budget on that and skimp on the Mos Espa scenes?? (like the vespa chase)
I hate the way the Armorer is written. For example: (Looks at the Darksaber) "Our precious beskar weapon." (Looks at Mando's spear) "Beskar can never be used for weapons. Destroy it!" Another example: "I have one henchman." (Mando walks in the door.) "Now I have two henchmen! I should bait them into a duel to the death on a precarious catwalk in space." (Just kidding, this duel was low-stakes, nobody got hurt.)
On a lighter note: Peli Motto's description of Jawas being furry with teeth, is both a nod to Star Wars lore and a Bojack Horseman easter egg. There's a story arc on that show about Amy Sedaris' character (who is a cat) falling in love with a mouse.

Yeah, a lot of the dialogue is cringe. But isn't that a Star Wars tradition? As for flashbacks they only did ones that were germane to the story so I didn't mind not having them for everything.

Pardon me for saying this, but she's in her late 50's and still gorgeous.

She's a beautiful woman for any age, and Tem Morrison is a beautiful man for that matter. They're both hanging in there with the youngsters. I just noticed something I missed on my first viewing of this chapter: The Armorer seems to think the Mandalorians will rise again under the sigil of the Mythosaur. That's the sigil on Boba Fett's shoulder. Apparently it's part of the prophecy they follow. In Legends, Boba eventually became Mandalore and united all the scattered tribes. Maybe his crime lord thing is a diversion and he eventually accepts Jango's cultural heritage.

It feels kind of like they are setting up a "Chosen One" arc for Grogu (the Armorer mentioning that Tarre Vizsla was both Jedi and Mandalorian, like Grogu, felt significant) and it sure would be adorable to see the little guy riding around on a mythosaur. But I don't understand how the storytelling would work, with Grogu's species being so slow-aging. They would have to do a huge time jump, and all the other characters would be dead of old age.
I always thought "mythosaur" refers to Boba Fett's steed in the Holiday Special cartoon. Am I wrong and that's just some random dinosaur? Are mythosaurs a Clone Wars thing?

Apparently it's a common misconception that the aquatic mount was a Mythosaur. Those are tusked and carnivorous, and more closely resemble the EU version of Krayt Dragons. Mythosaurs go back to the original comic book run of Star Wars from 1977, actually. They're one of the earliest things added to the lore. Like most things in Star Wars their nature and history has undergone several rewrites and retcons but they're old school.
We still don't know if Grogu is a clone. (Dr. Pershing had the same logo on his arm band the Kaminoan scientists and the scientists from Mount Tantiss have) If he is, apparently his accelerated aging was disabled like Boba's. I noticed the parallel between him and Tarre Vizla, too. It's interesting. Like you said, it would be a human generation or two before he's capable of leading Mandalore.

Rewatched Ep 5. It is the best episode with Ep 2 a close second. One problem with Din Djarin getting a Naboo Starfighter is those things look terrible from the back. Very poor silhouette. It does look REALLY cool from certain angles. I worked for LucasArts during the prequel era and they had a LOT of problems with the design of that ship because viewed from the back it is just this weird sliver. Anyone who's played any of those games flying that ship know what I mean. Particularly the N64 version. In contrast the Razorcrest looked great from every angle, a really good design.
Obviously we are going to get baby Yoda riding in the droid cockpit next season of The Mandalorian.

One thing about it - it's a great fighter but it's not an ideal bounty hunter's ship. He has no room to bring any of his bounties in, especially in carbonite. There's no cargo hold to hang out and arm wrestle friends, either. I can see him keeping and loving this ship if he either renounces bounty hunting or also gets another razor crest at some point and uses this one for special missions.
Or maybe he more firmly commits himself to the Mandalorian culture, finding those caverns underneath glassed Mandalore and being reborn. There's still that prophecy about the Mythosaur heralding the new age, and he's about to team up with the man who chose the Mythosaur as his sigil.

Again, incredible episode, but it's a bit troubling that two episodes of Book of Boba Fett have either not featured the titular character at all or barely.
The technology they're using to recreate Luke is improving, it seems. Look at how awesome it is for Luke to have a Padawan and another trained Jedi as an observer/advisor, at least for a short while. Disney missed out on a cash cow by not showing Luke's Jedi Academy in its prime. Perhaps we'll see more awesome Jedi training and philosophy in the live action shows.
Clone Troopers in a live action show. It's been a long time since we've seen those bad boys.
Cobb Vanth is great. Hopefully Cad Bane didn't cut him down in the prime of his life. Speaking of Bane, that's an old adversary for Fett. I have a feeling only one of them is making it out of this in one piece.
Welp, there goes the bar.
Grogu is going to choose both, somehow. I know it. They've lampshaded the Tarre Visla thing too hard. Grogu will be both Jedi and Mandalorian somehow, though it's unorthodox for both philosophies.

You guys losing interest in this show or just busy? Wonder if the finale will be good. Wonder if there will be a season 2. Going to be honest. It's just not as good as the Mandalorian for me.

So, a few thoughts on the finale: Fun, but underwhelming. The RR-directed episodes are the weak ones, sadly. And his episode of Mandalorian was awesome.
We got resolutions to all the major story threads of the season, but the Mando/Luke/Grogu thing frustrates me a bit. What happened to "I will protect the Child with my life?" Seems like all that emotional investment in the finale of Mando season 2 was wasted.
We see much more killing and violence in this episode than the others combined. Happy to see Fennec actually assassinating someone at the end there.
Looks like we're getting Robo Cobbp at some point. lol
Apparently Wookiees are very hard to kill and love melons.
RIP Gammorrean guards. Those boys were loyal.
I thought Boba was going to let the majordomo guy get shot up on purpose. Nice distraction.
Giant Droidekas! They don't roll, though. I guess they're too big.
Grogu being a beast-tamer is a callback to one of the Jedi abilities in KOTOR and Mandalorian history in general.
I still hate the kids with their colorful bikes. I mean, I don't HATE them. I don't wanna see bad things happen to them. But...meh. They don't do it for me.
Wonder if there will be a season 2. Where do we go from here? Obi-Wan is on the horizon at least.
RIP Cad Bane. You had a long and storied career. Or maybe not. Someone pointed out that there's still a red blinking light on his costume when we last see him. Apparently that signifies his life support is working...

Yeah, I lost interest a little. Even though I did like this episode. The coolest thing was Cad Bane showing up as the total badass drifter from out of nowhere. This whole season would have been so much more exciting if they'd had him show up in the first episode and build up the whole season as a confrontation with Fett in the finale.
The recreation of Luke Skywalker was pretty amazing, but I'd rather they have recast the role with someone like Sebastian Stan. And then give us an Adventures of Luke Skywalker show. With Mara Jade and have appearances with Kyle Katarn and so many other characters from the expanded universe we all fell in love with post Return of the Jedi and pre-Disney

I was just kinda meh on the finale, though my wife really liked it. No doubt we haven't seen the last of Cad Bane. I'm disappointed in RR. His episode of The Mandalorian was one of the best, I had such high expectations. Some of his other movies I've really enjoyed like the underrated Alita: Battle Angel which was fantastic, as was From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City, and Desperado. The Mod squad and their colorful bikes just killed it for me, and his action was surprisingly flat and slow.

Now that this has wrapped up, I'm wondering if it was just a little mini-series. No talk about a season 2. I feel like this was sort of there as a Mando season 2.5 to kind of tie a few loose ends together and launch off the Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka shows, and to get one plot element out of the way leading into Mando season 3.* * How to get the most popular part of the Mandalorian back into the show right away to increase viewership, being Grogu.
