Seriously! ;D
I bookmarked this site many months ago. But only in the past week or so have been frequenting it regularly (mostly delving deep into the various sub-forums) as I'm for the first time in about 27 years running a LBB D&D game (in the form of Swords& Wizardry, plus bits & pieces from supps 1-3).
I just want to say "thanks" to all the forum members for all the wonderful discussion about the history/philosophy behind OD&D as well as rules (both core and house), adventures, 3rd party materials (JG), and other topics. A wealth of knowledge here.

When I first imagined this place a couple of years ago, I couldn't decide if there would be enough enthusiasm for a 30-year-old game that has been out of print for most of that time. Some folks on DF were supportive, others said it would never work. I'm really happy with the way it has turned out. We have some nice folks here with super ideas, and in general everyone talks nice to each other. Thanks for your comments and for frequenting!

There seems to be plenty of fans of OD&D (as well as B/X, BECMI, AD&D and other old school D&D) these days! numbers on the rise, I would say. For my own part I actually have been using the 4th edition rules recently (call me weird, but they remind me of moldvay/cook in spirit) - I abandoned 3E early in it's life and was out of gaming during most of 2E. LBBs have always had the soft spot in my heart, and it's exciting to be running a OD&D game again. Browsing this site has made it doubly so! ( just wish I had not sold my original LBBS and other OD&D materials sev years back..grrr) At an rate, thanks for the welcome, and I hope I'll be able to contribute in some small way around here ;D

I have never played or owned OD&D... the closest I've come is Holmes basic. But I still think this is the best D&D board in general. The attitude is one of acceptance and discussing new ideas, and the advice and old-school philosophy on gaming is wonderful. No matter what you're playing, there's good stuff here for you.

I am also amazed by the depth of coverage and elan of this board. It's a truly wonderful place to visit! I was amazed to see some of the products (Judge's Guild maps! Woo!) that I remember from my childhood championed and restored to fully functional life. You guys rock.
