I hadn't visited the CMP forum lately, so I just found out about this: I am happy to see Duchy of Ten coming out next year. I was worried that we would get updates of all the exisiting 3e books before we would get to see something new. I also find the Time Jump setting to be quite intriguing... Havard

I have mixed feelings about this. While I have a complete set of d20 Blackmoor products, I never really liked the game system. I haven't played 4E yet, but in reading it over I think I like it better. While I hate to re-buy products, I'll probably support Blackmoor because it's Blackmoor.
I'd still like to see something more "grass roots", though, and wish they would put together products for C&C, LL, S&W, or something more OD&D-ish. I think that an "old school" campaign such as Blackmoor should be done using "old school" rules if the intent is to preserve the original flavor of the game.
Just my two cents.

I am actually less optimistic about 4E. While 4E is a move towards smaller stat blocks, the books are very rules oriented and I have found that for a setting guy like myself, they look less appealing. This is just an impression though and I ofcourse we don't know what the Blackmoor books will be like. Re-buys are annoying, but I am interested in seeing how much of the Blackmoor 3e specific stuff (new classes, races etc) will be brought over to 4E Blackmoor. In terms of setting, is it possible that 4E will return Blackmoor to its roots? II'd still like to see something more "grass roots", though, and wish they would put together products for C&C, LL, S&W, or something more OD&D-ish. I think that an "old school" campaign such as Blackmoor should be done using "old school" rules if the intent is to preserve the original flavor of the game. Unfortunately this would never happen. WotC owns the Blackmoor lisence and from what I understand ZGG's contract with WotC states that Blackmoor products need to be produced for the current edition of D&D only. Its always interesting to hear your opinion Fin! I hope others will add their thoughts as well Havard

To my knowledge all this is true. Code Monkey plns on pushing ahead with the 4th edition material. I am still waiting for my draft copy. I will do all that I can to support and assist the project.

Dave Arneson Dark Lord Of Game Design Thanks for confirming this Dave! It is good to see that you are still involved in the process. It would be cool if you could tell us what you think once you get the drafts. Havard
