The best SF that ever was, and shall be (because it will ever get the reboot or sequel or prequel it deserves)!
I quite like the game, not least because of its 90s crunchy heartbreaker feel. It's clear they started from a RQ3/CoC base, but all the differences read to me like the sort of house-ruling we were all doing in the search for ultimate realism those days. I can see the potential, if not always the reality, of improvement over BRP in most of the changes.
I'm not sure they were too worried about making their game "not BRP", given that a C&D from Terry Nation would be much more likely. In fact, that's why I don't talk about this game more in public, in case it comes to the attention of the wrong people. RQ was more a case of filing the serial numbers off D&D, what with changing WIS for POW and throwing in SIZ, and (rightly so!) basing the entire system around thieves' skills.

True, and now that I'm getting (back) into Morrow Project I think I see some influences from there too. Unless TMP was influenced by RQ as well, which is quite possible.

IIRC The Morrow Project started life as someone's thesis or dissertation (not sure whether Bachelors, Masters, or PhD)? Another game I always wanted to try.
