Sorry Calienta for poking a little fun at you I noticed the exchange in the comments to Grognardia White Dwarf Post. Just want to let you know if you need help or just someone to bounce ideas off of. I had some experience with Layout and Desktop Top Publishing. I did the layout for Fortress Badabaskor, Citadel of Fire, and Dark Tower the JG Modules published by Goodman Games. I don't have a real jazzy style but people seemed to like what I did. Rob Conley P.S. Also I realize at this point any help would be for FO! #4 and onwards.

The BFA degree I have stuffed in a file cabinet says "Graphic Design" on it. Most of the 'zine type material I've done were for very visual genres, like foreign films. The task is a lot more fun with lots of pictures.
Cal allowed me to design a full page submission, for which all the guidelines were tossed out the window. I'm sure that readers wouldn't want more than one "free-form" article...

Yes, that was me. I hope I haven't offended anyone. I have little dtp experience, but I've sent some suggestions over to Ignatius; if there are ready and willing dtp experts frequenting these boards, all the better!

Actually, writers can have as much input as I can handle into the visual design of their articles, which means that if you want to do like labsenpai and just go with your own layout that's OK. This is really a team effort, there's not enough $ in it for it to be otherwise. More soon, I want to get #3 to lulu today.

In general, I prefer simple layout: two columns, a normal font, justified text. Sure, advances have been made in DTP, but much of that is fancy nonsense, and definitely not fit for an old school magazine.

Indeed, a simple layout is always best, but there's still room for some tidying up and tweaking in Fight On!, tweaking which would raise it to greatness.
