Gary Gygax Day, and the date of his birth. HAIL GARY! Thank you for so much enjoyment over the years and the boost in vocabulary!
It is also the date of my older Brother's birth. Every year I remind him of this connection, and a story related to them both:
During the early fad years, he and a few of his football team buddies in HS played D&D (I'm sure they kept it secret from most of their schoolmates
). They played some weird combination of MCM and The Fantasy Trip, but never let me play with them because ya know..I'm the PITA younger brother.
One day he decided he wanted me to run a game for him as I had way more experience in the game and I guess he was trying to "get better" or something. I can't remember if it was B2 or T1 , or what, but it was a Gary module I grabbed. Within about 15 minutes, he made a stupid decision and his character set off a poison needle trap or fell into a pit or something and after his saving throw or whatever- Dead. He completely flipped out "NOT FAIR!, you can't do that! blah bah blah"
I told him that he should be more careful, that I did not kill his character and I told him Gary was just smarter than him- Gary killed your character. 
This pissed off my extremely intelligent but arrogant about it Brother to no end, and he rage-quit right then and there like a big baby throwing character sheets and dice. We never played the game again together.
He of course recalls no such incident ever occurred.
