Our D&D talk show this weekend hosts Peter Bebergal, editor of the excellent anthology, Appendix N: The Eldritch Roots of Dungeons & Dragons. With some of the best stories from Gygax's Inspirational Reading (plus a few from Moldvay's Basic set, too) -- well-known authors and some surprises. Personally, I loved this book and discovered some new idols to pursue. Sunday 1 PM ET -- and people can join us in the live chat and tell us your favorites. What questions should we put to Peter this Sunday?

You were probably going to ask him this already, but what would he consider the "core Appendix N" titles that most directly influenced D&D? Perhaps a list of five titles specifically, to really force him to think and take it down to the minimum.

Perhaps a list of five titles specifically, to really force him to think and take it down to the minimum. Good question. Related, Gygax's own Appendix N ends with a "most immediate influences upon AD&D" paragraph that lists 6, and interestingly Peter recreates the appendix with the exception of that paragraph. So I do plan to ask him if that was an oversight or what the intent was.
