Michael Whelan's art for the Barsoom books and Elric saga are superb. Do you have an example? He's got one good Elric illustration, but I haven't seen any good Barsoom ones. I'm not posting these because we really are running low on storage space for attachments, but Whelan may be my favorite Barsoom artist other than Frazetta. I have the whole set of paperbacks with his art and they are (in my opinion) all awesome. www.catspawdynamics.com/john-carter-of-mars-covers-by-michael-whelan/

If we're talking Burroughs, then I'd certainly recommend the great artwork by J. Allen St. John.

If we're talking Burroughs, then I'd certainly recommend the great artwork by J. Allen St. John. Before Frazetta, before Al Williamson, before much of the great fantasy and sci-fi art of the 20th century was J. Allen St. John. He was contemporary to NC Wyeth and there is some similarities. But we have to appreciate J. Allen St. John's creativity and originality. Early Frazetta covers bear a striking resemblance to J. Allen St. John's work.

Considering that they hired Ralph McQuarrie to do the concept art for Battlestar Galactica it is no surprise there is a strong similarity to Star Wars in the aesthetic.

Chris Achilleos recently passed away. I was blown away by his art when I was a teen, I kind of grew out of it but I can still appreciate much of his work. And of course his most famous image:
