I'm the admin on the MeWe OD&D group and I'd like to invite anyone who hasn't yet joined to do so. The MeWe group as over 300 members and something of interest is posted every day. I want you to join my group on MeWe: mewe.com/join/odnd

I'll confess that I have no idea what MeWe is, but good luck with it.

I recommend it.

I'll confess that I have no idea what MeWe is, but good luck with it. Fin, MeWe is a Social media site that values privacy/your info, etc. It's an "Anti-Facebook", if you will (and so, it is falsely ragged on by the Media as being of a particular politically minded persuasion- which is BS. All kinds of people from all walks of life use it- Zuckerberg is just pissed) Gaming wise- it has become the spiritual successor to the old Google + groups. There are lots of various RPG groups on MEWE (even just for OSR/OD&D there are a bunch). The interface isn't as good as G+ was, but it's not bad. It also isn't nearly as popular as the old G+ groups were, but most groups have pretty good traffic including jonsalway 's group (of which I am also a member)

Yes, MeWe is very much a Google+-style successor; I find MeWe much easier to navigate than Facebook, and much easier to take part in groups on. Posts are sequential, and don’t get hidden behind what some algorithm thinks I want to see.

Hmm, it seems you cannot look at MeWe at all without creating an account. If it looks anything like the FB display (I have looked over my wife's shoulder), then I am really not interested. A forum like this is much better for conversation, since you can easily see all of a conversation and you can easily look at things from a few years or a lot of years ago. Try going back to something 10 years ago on FB, I don't think it is even possible. I know on Google+ (where it never occurred to me to look for gaming) you could not go back more than about 48 hours, older than that and it was just gone. I was only in a couple of G+ groups, but even in the groups you could not easily go back very far. Maybe it would hold more appeal if I were a lot younger and were arthritis free. That all said, I wish jonsalway and his group every success.

I used to use MeWe for a while, but I prefer forums for the same reasons SonOfBear just mentioned. I also personally believe social media has a tendency to create echo chambers and cliques, whereas you're exposed to a wider variety of ideas and opinions here. Also, I don't have to see the same guy advertising his podcast or zine in 20 different threads here.

Whether or not it directly applies to the group it's posted in, and always without comment.
