You probably have a bunch of RPG's on your shelves, or in a box in the garage. Me too. Too many of them unplayed. Here is a list of some RPG's I own I really wish to play:
James Bond RPG
Gangbusters
Robotech
Stormbringer
Burning Wheel
There are several more collecting dust, but these are the first five that come to mind. I really want to play James Bond because I recall when it came out that it was very well received. And James Bond is cool.

I own a ton of the Free League product line (Tales from the Loop, Vaesen, Alien, Forbidden Lands, preorder of Twilight 2000) and have only played Loop one time. All of the games look so darned good. I hope to run these for my group someday.
I have a bunch of 2d20 games (John Carter, Star Trek, preorder of Dune) but have never gotten to play it. I feel like I would understand better if I played the thing.
I bought a bunch of Savage Worlds stuff just for the Solomon Kane RPG. I got to play a couple of random SW games, but none are Solomon Kane. :-(

As much as I love Traveller I never played it as a group game, only Solo. My players aren't much into Sci-Fi, hence my difficulty to playtest Traveller and some Star Wars ideas, and I'm not sure if I would have good ideas to run a Space Opera or Sci-Fi game as well, my mind is very much into fantasy. I guess I should find some Space Opera books, I think I lack repertoire. Some years ago I've read Mage: The Awakening multiple times, but couldn't played it up to date. The last one is "some Gurps". I did played Gurps before, but I've never played "Vampire: The Masquerade" and "Mage: The Ascension" Gurps' edition. Always heard how so good they are that some people preferred to play those "Settings" using the Gurps rules rather than Storyteller system. Ah, recently I've read Dragon Warriors, and I want to test it someday. I've already stole some ideas to test as house rules, but I would like to play the original game as it is. Apart from that I have a lot of books both unread or read but not played. I don't really have much interest on them though. Sometimes I wonder why I keep buying RPG books... Edit: Both Vampire and Mage Gurps I don't own them though, and didn't read. I forgot it was owned games when I was writing.  |

Apart from that I have a lot of books both unread or read but not played. I don't really have much interest on them though. Sometimes I wonder why I keep buying RPG books... Even if you don't play them they are really fun to read and imagine, and can be good resources for the games you do play. I'm reminded that DragonQuest is also a game I have and never played, but I don't think I really want to. I suspect it is very kloodgy and not particularly fun by today's standards. |

DragonQuest is an incredible aggravating game. It has a horde of great ideas, but the execution pales for me. I feel like, given a couple of months of work, I could turn it into something really special, though.

That's indeed been so for me and my group. When I first read Conan 2d20 I was put off, but after the second read and a one-shot I was hooked on the 2d20 system. My personal list: Dragons Conquer America (I loved Faith and backed the DCA kickstarter, but no one was interested to play DCA. Beautiful books!)
Infinity 2d20 (The tabletop miniatures got me interested in this and I really liked reading up on the background. I'd love to play a campaign some day, but my friends are only interested in the tabletop at the moment.)
DUST Adventures (Another RPG based on a tabletop game, I bought this really cheap at the SPIEL in Essen in 2018 together with the campaign book. I like the pulpy action style.)
Fate of the Norns - Ragnarok (I like the art style, the background and the board-gamey, tactical battle elements and the fact that you can make insanely powerful builds with some classes when you get to know the system.) |

I was invited to a game of Leagues of Adventure* (I actually own the rule book but haven't used it) I couldn't accept due to family obligations and I regret that because the system looks fun. On the non-RPG side there's some board games that seem a perfect fit for me I slept on back in the day, like Heroquest and Dungeon. (I understand Dungeon is still in print and Heroquest is back so maybe I should get in on that.)
*This isn't an old school game per se but it uses a dice pool mechanic and has an evocative Victorian globe-trotting setting that reminds me of Jules Verne, which makes it all the more sad I missed out, since the GM is a great guy and really knows this game inside and out.

Runequest: I have played similar games like Stormbringer and Elfquest, but never Runequest itself. I asked a friend who loved the system to run a game, but to no avail.
World of Darkness: I have the five major World of Darkness books, along with the Mummy and unofficial Highlander supplements. I had run a campaign using a different set of rules, and I was planning to use the World of Darkness system. But I never got the chance.
GURPS: I ran a one-shot GURPS Lite game, but never a game using the full ruleset.

Even though most RPGs nowadays waste pages with "how to play RPGs" and "how to use dice" and garbage like that, most RPGs are best understood through actual play. I'm not sure that one session would be enough for me to understand how 2d20 works, but I'd like to try it a few times to get a handle on the game before trying to run one of those games for my group. (I had a horrible experience with Shadowrun, where I didn't understand it as fully as I should and the players got really frustrated and vowed never to play Shadowrun ever again. I'll admit that I'm not so interested at the moment, either.) |

AS&SH - was in on kickstarter, like the rule set but just don't have group to do that with. (Would really want a campaign and not a one off to see how those classes play out.)
I also owned DragonQuest and never played it, I did study it, roll characters did some mock fights to get a sense of it but that was it and that was in the 80's of course.

It is the classic Ninja Turtles from the underground indie comics before they became commercialized. It is gritty, grungy, and stuffed with fantastic ideas. |

If I want to play something I tend to have to actually game master it. I'd embrace playing the following games which I currently own and have not played (or only played once)
Amber Diceless
DC Heroes
DragonQuest (SPI)
Universe (SPI)
Traveller
Conan (TSR)
High Fantasy RPG
OD&D LBB with or without supplements, the way it was meant to be played. Exploration and encounter avoidance, in Gary's basement out of sight of the DM with a Caller and all that. Must have been exciting and creepy as all get out! All I get out of my players is "I the hero!" to which I reply "No, you are simply monster kibble!"

Since I've been stuck in the DM role for the last few years, and my friends rarely game until I convince them to play, I get to choose whatever system I run. That's how I got my friends to try GURPS, Classic Traveller, d6 Fantasy, and Stormbringer. The last one is the only one I've had extensive experience playing, although I was solo gaming at the time. I also got them to try Castle Falkenstein, which I had run with a group before.

I don't think this is a full list. I know there are other games I'm overlooking. But off the top of my head:
SilCORE (Silhouette Core Rules) Everywhen Crimson Blades 2
2e or 4e Gamma World Tékumel Magical Industrial Revolution With SilCore, I would have preferred to use that system than the rules used for MechWarrior, Cyberpunk 2020, or any mecha-related Palladium game (Robotech, Rifts). Although now, I would prefer a simpler system. Speaking of which...
Everywhen -- my new favorite game system! Its the Barbarians of Lemuria rule system, but open-ended for any kind of pulp adventure. While I would not use it for all of my games, its easy for a number of games what use rule systems I don't like. Although, I have not had this game too long.
Crimson Blades 2 is another rule system Simon Washbourne put upon this earth. While it plays like B/X D&D with only d6s, I love how the rules work, the character options, and the summoning mechanics. I can totally see the Primary Ability/Save roll being used as the basis for a 5e-styled Proficiency system that can expand the game without complicating it.
I have only ever played 1e Gamma World and Mutant Future. I have 2e and 4e and want to give them a spin. With Tékumel, its hard to find anyone interested in getting invested with the setting. This game is the deep-end of fantasy world-building -- J.R.R. Tolkien wish he was this creative! I would need to write a simple, user-friendly primer to get anyone to know the basic mindset of the people of that world, and too many players want to play as Murder Hobos; not tourists in Culture Shock: The Role-Playing Game. And that is a d**n shame, as I really love the setting. With all the Harry Potter fans who are also D&D players, Magical Industrial Revolution should be an easy choice. Although, to be fair, this one is fairly recent, and the pandemic put a lot of plans on hold. Once things settle down (I mean for real), I might find people who would eat that setting up like candy. Seriously! Its the world of Harry Potter BUT BETTER!! |

Also got to play TSR's Marvel Super Heroes RPG for the first time since the '80s. I had forgotten how much fun that system is. |

Hmm... Thought I had posted in here a few days ago, but we had a power outage while I was hitting reply, so maybe it got eaten.
When I was a collector I had dozens I'd probably have liked to try, but never did. Here's a few from BITD, as well as my collecting years:

That might make sense in Traveller (sort of), but given the somewhat narrower focus of Universe that logic doesn't really hold up well. Going beyond that, given that folks in Pakistan have gained a certain amount of fame for creating various modern firearm designs, including machine guns, using only files, chisels, hand saws, and hand drills, I find it difficult to believe that there would be "primitive" planets with Brown Bess muskets - if you had the tech needed to simply get to a planet other than Earth, then you have more than enough tech to make something a bit better than a musket... |
