Hello odd74, I have just requested to join as Ix.
I am 100% unknown in any online gaming circles, but I really want to join so I can discuss the OSR stuff that I prefer over 5e. and by the way, while I am here, I would like to apologize to Daniel H. Boggs (Aldarron) for pirating dragons @ dawn, as a 3rd party source was the only way I could access it. It is a nice game, has the fluidity I have been looking for in an rpg and I hope to run my first FRPG campaign of 100% my own making with these rules.

Pits and Perils is just a rules light fantasy game that uses 2d6 for resolution and fixed damage values. I like the game, but switched to S&W:WB since the people I play with were more familiar with D&D.

Is there a reason I’m not allowed to join this forum? Our goal is not to keep folks out, but to be certain that new members are legit -- we try to verify individuals and double-check IP addresses to be sure that all members are unique and not multiple accounts. Sometimes that requires information and if you haven't supplied what we need the Admin team may ask for more or, after a certain amount of time has passed, if no information is forthcoming we clear the list and a potential member can resubmit. Looks like your initial request was somewhat vague. I'm guessing that this has slowed the process. |

I come to you as an archivist. I found this forum through a non-functional link on the one-page dungeon contest website, and would like to learn the wisdom of the ancients, as well as record and distribute it if this is acceptable.
I am something of a neophyte to the classic style of play. I started playing D&D with 4E and abandoned it after a session. I tried again with 5E and found more success, eventually becoming a DM for a few unremarkable unremarkable adventures I had written. I first encountered some ideas of classic play with an experimental one-shot I ran for a group who's DM called out sick at the last minute. I ran the Tomb of Horror's from Wizards of the Coast's Tales From the Yawning Portal, with each of the players' characters being a kobold with one special power off an internet d1000 table. This is how I learned the joys of classic adventure design, high player mortality, and rapid character creation. Since then I've run a few short adventures using Old School Renaissance systems, retroclones, and PDF scans of the three brown booklets/Holmes basic. I haven't started a blog yet, but plan to when I can get together a group willing to entertain longer campaign play of one of these systems.

Mainly Reddit (odnd, osr, rpg) although I’m not a frequent poster and mostly lurk. My interest in OSR, hearing Tim Kask’s descriptions of old school play and Philotomy’s OD&D document led me to getting into OD&D clones (Whitebox : FMAG and Delving Deeper) and general interest in the rules and play culture of the original edition.
As someone new to OD&D I have followed related work - Delta’s blog and discussions on Reddit but haven’t personally known or interacted with anyone in the OD&D sphere.
