Just some thoughts I put together over at my blog about gaming in the Tarantino-Verse. It occurs to me that doing this in OD&D would be DEAD easy, given that all weapons do 1d6 damage. You just eliminate magic, include Fighting-Men, Thieves, Assassins as your characters, and go for it. Armor would be relegated to Dexterity-related bonuses (like fighting men with Dex of 14-plus) and things like bullet-proof vests (say, AC 5?) wastedlandsfantasy.blogspot.com/2020/11/gaming-in-tarantino-verse.html

The best part of the Tarantino-verse is that the Monk and Assassin classes still fit right in.

I tried something like that years ago using the HERO System. I described it as the Three Musketeers mixed with Enter the Dragon. My players didn't care for the setting, and the campaign lasted all of two sessions.
Still, maybe it would work with different players.

Intriguing idea.
My 5e DM loves running Eberron as a huge stage for his "Big Trouble in Little China" style game, a mix of weird Eberron technology, D&D magic & Wuxia fight scenes. I'll ask him how well he knows the relevant Tarantino movies to mine ideas from.
If I were to set up a Tarantino-verse campaign, I'd rather have BX without the weapon damage variant, and look at all characters with 13 or higher Dex getting the AC bonus to include monks, thieves, assassins as well as the fighters, (monks & assassins from Blackmoor Supplement...)

The vast majority of what I wrote in that blog would work equally well with the B/X rules!

Someone came up with a B/X monk a while ago. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good.

Isn't there a Monk in the Advanced Companion for OSE? I know there's a Paladin and a Druid. Probably, but I'm not too familiar with OSE. It's about the most perfect possible B/X clone. Much as I love things like BFRPG, LL and LOTFP they all sort of do their own thing, but with OSE it's basically just all the B/X rules presented in a new layout. The Advanced companion brings some AD&D style options in but keeps them mechanically in the B/X range of power. I don't own the printed rules and the Advanced stuff isn't in the SRD but I'm about 99% sure there's a B/X style Monk in there.
