While re-posting a quote from squareman's blog, I noticed that the boards automatically turn the vulgar four-letter term for excrement into "nuts".
Wouldn't an infinite board of thrifty sustenance make an awesome magic item for dungeoneers? After the appropriate delay for internal processing, you could deposit your used food on the board and change it into nuts. Eat and repeat!
When I was a kid we never wanted to stop playing, which meant that many sessions went past the point of goofiness and kept going. So a recurrent concern was "OK, so my character is falling down a bottomless pit, or stuck endlessly digging up an infinite treasure hoard and stuffing it into a portable hole. What will I eat?" In such cases, the infinite board of thrifty sustenance would be, if not actually a lifesaver, certainly a life-extender.
This would also be an awesome item for Encounter Critical games, to relieve the inter-party tension that arises when the characters that have the Edible Excrement mutation get frustrated at having to worry about rations for those who don't.

shirt.
Seriously, I'm going to stick one of those items into my next dungeon level. I'm imagining it looks like a sausage grinder with a hand crank.
