An interesting news note from Goodman Games!
I never know what to think when a new author gets the rights to write in an established world, but Fafhrd & The Grey Mouser are some of my all-time favorite characters and Goodman Games has done a fantastic job of working up a game version of Nehwon with the DCC RPG, so I have high hopes that their standard of excellence will continue with this fiction.

It could work, if it was done in the spirit of the Tales From The Vulgar Unicorn with Robert Lynn Asprin at the helm. Although even that kind of went off the rails at the end.

Taking note, especially since, once I'm fully done with the Shannara retrospective, I want to tackle Lankhmar with our community. Actually, an indie publisher like GG running this project might be pretty cool. They will likely not just rely on their "house authors", like higher-profile anthologies usually tend to do, but really be looking for the best stories - not just "the best stories they can muster from their staff". I do think, though, that the best post-Leiber treatment of Lankhmar might already have happened with the Mike Mignola comic book series, back around 2000. Difficult to write new stuff when that's the quality of material you have to measure yourself against.

First I've heard of this (the F&GM bit). I thought Disney was gonna totally rock Star Wars, so I'm not terribly optimistic. Paizo tried this business model years ago with S&S fiction (reprints and new)- I cannot remember the name of the series- it didn't work out for them.
I've not picked up any of these TFtMS issues yet- how's the quality of writing in general?

I'm hoping that the stories are more in the style of the 1930s and 1940s stories (serious with helpings of humor) rather than some of the laugh-a-minute later stories.

I've not picked up any of these TFtMS issues yet- how's the quality of writing in general? I own all issues so far (all but #2 in paper, all in PDF) but haven't read them all yet. What I've read so far has been pretty good.
