Do those banners on the castle mean anything to anyone here? I assume some Forgotten Realms heraldry? I'm just not very well-steeped in that.

If there's Tieflings, I hope they bring on the Githyanki lady from BG3 who purposely calls them "teethling" to piss them off.

Chris Pine has this to say, "Oh man. Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs. The way that I’ve been describing it, it’s like Game of Thrones mixed with a little Princess Bride, just a smidge of Holy Grail; it’s somewhere in that ballpark. It’s a lot of fun. It’s got a lot of thrills. It’s poppy, it’s eighties heartfelt, there’s a bit of Goonies in there. ”

Huh. Well. The dialogue actually feels like something out of a D&D campaign. Like the sorts of things players might say around the table, especially the accidentally releasing the ultimate evil part. That's somewhat promising.

I know I'm late, but those do not match anything for major religions or nations/areas in the campaign boxed set/campaign guides from AD&D through 4E for FR, nor from AD&D though 3E for GH. I also checked 4E Nentir Vale materials- nada. I suppose they could be something out of 5E that came out in a Adventure Path or that Sword Coast players guide, but pre 5E FR or GH, it would have to be something very obscure. Maybe someone could check into the later Known World/Mystara for a match. I never cared much for it in the BECMI era and beyond, so never bothered to keep any of the GAZ series/AD&D 2E sets when I sold my collection.

Looks awesome.
But I'm very distracted by the fact that they decided to choose a song where a man is singing about his reproductive organs.

Yep- The Easter Egg trailer Piper posted shows they are using some 5E era changes/additions to the FR and places from new product as well as classic locations like Waterdeep and Neverwinter. I own very little 5E product that deals directly with the FR barring ToA (which takes place in the Jungles of Chult), and the material in the Starter and Essentials kits, so a well versed fan of the 5E Realms and it's changes likely has better info than I do, @ampleframework.

Official synopsis from SDCC:
"A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people."

Sounds perfect. Better than I could have hoped. I will continue to hold out for hope for this movie.

It's about time we see a gelatinous cube on the big screen. Lol

The phrase that sums it up: dragon-puke.

Grasp not for gold coins floating in a hallway. It could be a gelatinous cube!
Dragon-puke? Like worm sign for Dune, maybe. LOL!

Some sleuths online have already zeroed in on the Bard having the Harpers insignia on his clothing. This would make him a sworn enemy of the Red Wizards of Thay, who also seem to be portrayed in the trailer.

Some sleuths online have already zeroed in on the Bard having the Harpers insignia on his clothing. Except Harpers would never openly display their allegiance to that society. While the society itself is not secret, Membership is. It's like walking around with a CIA or KGB insignia while operating out in the field. More WOTC idiocy.

My eyes weren't that sharp. I didn't notice the insignia, myself. I was informed about it and haven't seen the screen shot. Maybe it's not super obvious. Or maybe the guy is just an idiot. He seems to be playing a clueless bard archetype.

He seems to be playing a clueless bard archetype. No worries. I was just stating that IF that was what they did for the movie, it's ridiculous, simply because it breaks with the verisimilitude of the Forgotten Realms setting- Harpers do not go around advertising they are Harpers. But it's right on cue for the stupidity that are D&D Movies. As for general discussion re: the trailer- this one LOOKS way better than past movies (love the owlbear), but as I anticipated I don't see anything in the story (or certainly the characters/acting) compelling enough for me to take the family out to the theatre and spend money on tix, drinks, popcorn, candy, etc. I don't have any desire to see a semi-serious fantasy movie with various nods and inside jokes referencing D&D gameplay, playstyles, and players. Maybe if it shows up on Netflix or whatever streaming service it is that my wife subscribes to, I'll take a gander.

If I’m desperate and there is truly nothing else available to watch, I might watch this someday.

My apologies if this discussion upset anyone. I merely wanted to share my joy and excitement for the upcoming film.
I’m really looking forward to it, but I’ll try and tone it down a bit out of respect for my fellow gamers.

No need to ever apologize for enjoying a particular movie or tv show. I've got my own preferences but they're subjective.

Your Highness is a great, underrated D&D movie. "here...hold my D!@k." I just died!
