A few years ago there came out a few collections in hardcover with illustrations and annotations. I have been looking to replace my paperbacks with something quality, and, this may be it. I love the selection.

I have the older paperback ones from Penguin. I like them, but yeah, the paper is very, very thin.

I have the three-volume Penguin set, annotated by S. T. Joshi, on Kindle, and tend to use that as my primary reading set for Lovecraft. I also have the two-volume annotated revisions and collaborations set from Arcane Wisdom, the annotated Case of Charles Dexter Ward from University of Tampa, along with the standard Arkham editions, the collected essays and several of the selected letters from Hippocampus Press, and other odds and ends from HPL. The New Annotated HPL, referenced above, currently serves as a base for the lamp on my nightstand!

Those sound awesome, but man, those annotations (superscripted numbers) always distract me while I'm reading, and those books have a TON of them @_@

I have a couple HPL books without annotations that I like to read, just so I'm not so distracted. It's neat to peek through some of that stuff later, though.
