Here at the Denmark household we've been playing 5th edition and for the most part having a blast. But there are some really unnecessary complications. Well for my kids anyways. In particular the character sheet is a bit convoluted. I made a streamlined version that has the general information you actually need during play in a more organized and legible manner. If you're curious I have a full resolution version on my blog you can download and print out for your game. You can find it here.

Well done. I keep thinking about making up my own 5E sheet. My thought is to put each skill under the appropriate stat and color code them somehow. I like what you have done, however, and it is pretty simple!

This is awesome, thanks. I keep wanting to run a game for my wife and daughter with 5E (so I can use some products I shelled out for on DMs Guild) and most of the character sheets out there are way too busy. I've only found one other that is decent, but I like this better. Question- Has 5E gone the way of PF2 and renamed "race' as Ancestry?

Question- Has 5E gone the way of PF2 and renamed "race' as Ancestry? Nope. My thought is to put each skill under the appropriate stat and color code them somehow. There are already lots of sheets around with that tweak.

Question- Has 5E gone the way of PF2 and renamed "race' as Ancestry? Oh, heh, that's a bit of my own preference. I've been working on a lot of cross-genre stuff (as is evident from my OSR RPG's) and wanted to genericize "race" into something that would work regardless of genre.

I like what you have done, however, and it is pretty simple! There are some family friendly 5th edition character sheets that do that pretty well. I dropped Skills altogether from this sheet to encourage my kids to do their own puzzle solving rather than just rolling a skill and letting the character sheet solve the problem for them. We do still write down key skills in the abilities section.

My thought is to put each skill under the appropriate stat and color code them somehow. I like what you have done, however, and it is pretty simple! They have an official one like that. Download 5E_CHARACTERSHEETSV3.zip from the Wizards site, and the one you want is called "Character Sheet - Alternative - Print Version.pdf".
Personally, I find it faster to find the skills alphabetically than to try to memorize what stat they belong to, but it's nice to have options.
