Back to the original subject of this thread, Thomas Denmark has been quiet about his Kickstarter for his new Gunslinger RPG and I feel that his hard work deserves recognition. I pledged for it naturally! From his blog, I read he traveled to Arizona for inspiration to do his wonderful pen and ink drawings, and has been working slowly and carefully to make this prequel (to Warriors of Mars) which is also a standalone game be an excellent addition to anyone's ODD library. Mr. Denmark, if you get a chance to read this, I would love to hear about your process writing this game and getting your inspiration. I very much enjoyed your Mars game and am reading all of the Edgar Rice Burroughs mars books now for the first time!

Mr. Denmark, if you get a chance to read this, I would love to hear about your process writing this game and getting your inspiration. I very much enjoyed your Mars game and am reading all of the Edgar Rice Burroughs mars books now for the first time! Thanks! I'm not great at self promotion. I much rather sit in my studio writing and drawing, playing D&D with my kids & friends, and occasionally reading and posting comments here. There is another thread here where I talked about the design process. I really did not mean to write a whole western RPG but the way I pictured the Princess of the Red Planet campaign adventure I couldn't get around it. Now of course I'm glad because I think it has come out really good. Other designers probably wouldn't have bothered, either skipping over the first 2 chapters of the novel or using an off-the-shelf western RPG. I'm not that smart. I did have another motive in that I have long been working on my own OSR RPG engine to use for my own games, my previous OSR games rely too much on Swords & Wizardry (which is a great game, it is just that my own idiosyncrasies are different). Gunslinger is the first expression of that new engine. A sort of hybrid of Warriors of the Red Planet and my homebrew game. Here is that other thread: odd74.proboards.com/thread/14071/princess-red-planet-adventure

I pledged, although I came a bit too late to say I helped fund it. Good luck with this and I look forward to running a game of it on ODD74 once I get my hands on it.

Same. I had bookmarked the "coming soon" page but didn't see that the KS had started until it was already funded. In my defense it funded in only one day. Anyway, I backed it as well.

Why I voted for the Arizona Ranger class:
"Now the stranger started talking, made it plain to folks around "Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town "He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead "And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red."
From Marty Robbins' great song "Big Iron."

Much appreciated! Every backer helps.
I waited until 50 people signed up as interested then launched it. According to KS only 4 of those people actually backed it, but maybe some of them will wait til the last day or two.
I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that Arizona Ranger won the poll. Though I was hoping for Huckster. I might still be able to squeeze that in as a bonus, but there were SO many classes I could have added and I wanted to keep the core rules focussed. It might call for a Companion with all those other classes sometime later.
