I've got a 10pm EST game, but should be available at 8pm, assuming that we're done with dinner by then (I'm in CDT). Work mtg came up, won't be able to make it tonight. Keep me in the loop on the next one, though, please! Allan.

OK. That was interesting. If Counting Wizard wants to discuss tabletop wargaming and others don't, a side-chat could be arranged.

I'm always up for wargaming chat. I don't get enough of that these days.

Thanks for the discussion. It appears that my computer failed its system shock roll. This is one of our favorite games and it feels good knowing that others like to talk about it.

A few learnings for me: 1. Video chat, not just audio would go a long way! 2. Using chat for topics and voting can work, but is a pain. There are some other tools that should work better. 3. Add some times a little later to help with bedtimes. 4. Tabletop wargaming seemed to be a dominant topic. This might be better served with a few games on a VTT, either Roll20 or maybe Tabletop Simulator is there is a module that supplies enough figures to make it work. Otherwise, the group controls the topic and how long to talk about them via votes, so not too much an issue. 5. Insights! We didn't capture insights, and there were some good ones. Please do cary over some of those on the forums. I got the sense it was a bit rough around the edges, but people got something out it and it is worth trying again. On the plus side, this was a chance for some new to Discord to give it a try. Two recommended videos for those having audio or mic issues: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ll6rIdLRpY&t=2s to stop the mic from cutting out and www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnMKZB6zTcQ for general audio. Any other feedback from those who participated, you can add it here or DM me.

It would be an add on item, depending on how discord allows one to control the cameras, but I suppose we could set up a Chainmail game like any remote miniatures war-game...I've been doing a lot of those lately.

I would really appreciate a Chainmail miniatures game. Sounds like something that can be set up in roll20 or some other virtual boardgame thing with measuring sticks. If someone organizes it I may even donate a pizza.

On one hand, it would be easier for the person playing remotely not having to tediously arrange and rearrange figures. On the other they wouldn't have direct control of troops.

Are you guys still doing this? I wouldn't mind joining. I recently got into Discord, but I haven't started Roll20 yet.

Haven't tried Discord video yet, just audio.
I'd be very interested in some Roll20 wargaming, but my best attempts have still run into difficulties with miniature wargames. The interface just isn't very designed around unit grouping, moving, wheeling, precisely measured movements, etc.
Now, wargaming on a hex grid, that's another thing entirely, and Roll20 is fantastic for that.

Working under the assumption that something adequate soon will not interfere with something better later, I’ll start laying out forces for some sort of physical demo game. Watch for a thread in the Chainmail section...

To simplify, based on votes so fare, and due to life it looks like we will do this on Monday, May 18.
Go vote for an 8pm or 8:30pm ET start: doodle.com/poll/xrsd59uq6tte35qp

I seem to have votes in both boxes already, but I’m early to bed and early to rise, so would vote for 8:00.

It might be time for a new thread, but here is the plan.
Every other week, 8–9pm Eastern Time.
Here is the schedule for the next three: June 1 June 18 June 29
We need at least 4 people to confirm they are planning to attend to make it happen.

Forgive me if I'm ploughing up old threads better left under, but I'm still looking around the forums and feeling my way around.
I'm looking for more opportunities to use online gaming sources and gamers. Is this kind of thing still going on, or was it discontinued?
Did someone start a more current thread that I am not aware of?

Did someone start a more current thread that I am not aware of? Hey there and welcome. You did not miss anything. We tried a few times to get something off the ground, it did not take. There were some ideas to try out, but life got busy. If things settle down, I will try something a little different.
