Let's try an experiment, a 1 hour virtual meetup. We are playing online, how about talking shop as well or breaking out some virtual dice to see how some of the stuff we talk about actually plays out, maybe compare two or three variations. We will not agree on which we like best, but we will all get a decent comparison. Or we do a Lean Coffee, a simple method to show up, generate what to talk about, vote on topics and get a lot of a short time together.
If there are enough takers, I'll post a Doodle to pick a time. If it works out, we can do it again or change the format—you can vote for either or both.

What is Lean Coffee?
I use Zoom and it is working for me. Would that be an option?

What is Lean Coffee? I use Zoom and it is working for me. Would that be an option? Zoom, Discord, Hangouts, whatever. Lean Coffee. It is basically as described. It is also one of things you need to experience once and then it will make sense. People sit down, write some topics they want to talk about on post its, they dot vote which they want to talk about, sort based on votes, go from top down with a time (I like 3 min.), when the timer goes off, they vote to keep going or stop, and either move on to the next topic or reset the time for another 3 min. It moves conversations quickly, and usually results in a fast knowledge transfer or idea generation.

Well, it's not me. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, since I don't get much exercise these days.

odd74.proboards.com/thread/14022/playing-online-discord?page=1This has already been brought up. Not sure what Finarvyn might want to say, but, as far as I'm concerned, in principle, nothing against it, and nothing against you using the OD&D'74 "label" for it. If I might give you advice from my own experience with these things - perhaps don't focus to much on discussing specific topics: Most of you have been friends and penpals through this forum, as well as other online venues: Chances are that you will have a lot to say to each other, as things are, anyway.

Oh, to be clear, I was not trying to co-opt the name ODD74. Rather, suggesting to the limited group who use this particular forum. As to topics, as mentioned, topics can be selected by those participating on the spot. This is something I do with my work life regularly, so I know it works.

I’d be up for this...I think the first time should try the discussion; perhaps a Roll20 could be a follow-on if that seems desirable.

Sounds cool.
What kind of time of day would it be? Time zones might be an issue.

What can be on the agenda? In a LeanCoffee there is no agenda until it happens, and about 5-10 min in, there is an agenda as determined by the participants (if you have ever been to an unconference, it is similar, just scaled down). Checking my own calendar and will put up a Doodle for people to pick at time that works for the most people.

Doodle poll for a time/day: doodle.com/poll/85z4p2ebifsprfuw (vote for ALL times that can work for you). Tried adding some early/late times to encourage folks in other time zones. The platform will likely be Hangouts, with chat in Discord or a whiteboard app.

I've got a 10pm EST game, but should be available at 8pm, assuming that we're done with dinner by then (I'm in CDT).

I trust there's a free version of Discord? I'll have to set up tomorrow... Yes, it's free by default, just gotta create a user handle. There are technically some paid perks, but honestly I can't see why anyone would bother.
