Good thing I filed for unemployment. My work hours have been whittled down to almost nothing.

That's true. Rumor is, more stimulus might happen. I know our state wants to pass for $2000 a month. I would buy a ton of modules! I'd get some much-needed repairs done on my house so I can get it on the market and move out of the city.

Yup, I feel this. A little over a year ago I started an oil service company. Oil has been struggling all 2020, then with Covid-19 and the record low oil prices, I finally shut my doors the other day.

Congrats! Although I hear you on wanting to find other work. The way they handled it doesn't sound like the sort of gesture a company who appreciates its employees would make.

Good news! My company got the SBA loan, so I'm stable again! Wonderful news! Hopefully you find a job that treats you better, but at least the bills are paid in the mean time.

Yup, I feel this. A little over a year ago I started an oil service company. Oil has been struggling all 2020, then with Covid-19 and the record low oil prices, I finally shut my doors the other day. That is really unfortunate. Was it a heating oil business or something completely different? I have a brother and sister-in-law in the restaurant business. The pandemic has hit them really hard. Laid off most of their employees as they weren't initially set up for take out. Employees make mor eon unemployment than they would on vastly reduced hours. Rought time right now.

Oil has no future, I'm afraid, and I'm very sorry to see your business fail. But fossil fuels are destroying our planet and environment and I hope this tragic loss serves as an opportunity to rethink where we place our services and manpower to hopefully make a more sustainable future. Renewables have been continuously on a major upswing, which is great, and I hope a deal passes that helps the fossil fuel industry sector re-equip themseves and the workforce for renewable energy development. Let's treat our beautiful world with care.

You handled that post far more maturely than I would have, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. One door closes. Another opens. Keep us in the loop.. MODS- are we going to start "kicking people when they are already down" around here?. This isn't in the spirit of this place

Okay folks, this topic is temporarily locked to give our mods a chance to review it before it goes any further. Meanwhile, I recommend everyone take a deep breath and remind themselves of our board conduct here: odd74.proboards.com/thread/12913/rules-board-join-odd74 In particular see the 2nd dot point, which I'll also quote: 2. Feel free to discuss any gaming topics you like, but please avoid introducing religious, political, or other "real world" discussions that aren't specific to gaming or fictional game worlds. Discuss it elsewhere. These topics tend to get people here worked up, and to be counter productive.

The mod team has now reviewed this topic. We agree that it is not headed in a constructive direction, despite my specifically reminding folks up-thread of our board conduct and that this is a place to discuss gaming.
We recognise these are unprecedented times and that many of us are feeling the impacts of the pandemic one way or another. So everyone please remind yourself to respect your fellow gamers and the small space we share here. There are more appropriate places to discuss social, political, and workplace circumstances on the interwebs.
clownboss , dizzysaxophone , and jeffb each cop a warning. You each played a part in creating/escalating a situation where you could have instead reflected on the forum conduct for a moment and de-escalted or not posted at all. Per our/your own board rules, warnings are first followed by timeouts and bans. Have a think about that.
This topic will be unlocked shortly with a view to pulling it back toward a gaming context. If it continues to go awry it will be locked again. Be kind to each other.
