Well, folks, it's official. The files for Night Shift have been uploaded to the printer. We are one step away from you all getting this in your grubby little hands! The ebook files have been updated on DriveThruRPG, so if you haven't yet, head over to your library and re-download. There were some pretty major fixes in the spell section, where my editor found a ton of rules references for a different game, and a bunch of fantasy anachronisms (the bane of using open content in your work)! But Ross (my editor) did a bang-up job as always and the final manuscript, I think, is about as clean as it gets. I'm super excited, and wait till you all see the leathers we have in process. Red leather with the logo stamped in bright gold foil on the cover and spine. They're going to look awesome. In the coming weeks, you might see me open up pre-orders for the game on my website. Fear not; ALL of the backers WILL have their orders fulfilled BEFORE any pre-orders go out. It's an effort to keep the buzz and momentum going, so we can build the audience for the game. Speaking of the website, check out these links to keep up with Elf Lair Games for our future projects: www.elflair.com/ - our website. Ah, we had our first "your game sucks" complainer. I feel like a real publisher now!

Was he specific about what sucked in particular?

Was he specific about what sucked in particular? She was. She hated everything from the cover and graphic design to nitpicking a few typos that snuck past in copyediting, to the old school D&D-inspired nature of it ("Designers need to learn that old doesn't mean good") to the gadgeteering system to the subtle callbacks to specific TV shows. It is what it is. There's no need to belabor it. There were a few odd things about it, but in the end, you can't please everyone.

Sort of strange comments, as the game was pitched as being old school and similar to familiar game systems we all know. Oh, well. Sorry she didn't like it.

Ah, we had our first "your game sucks" complainer. I feel like a real publisher now! We have a saying here in Texas ... "some folks would complain if you hung them with a new rope." Don't let people like her discourage you. They'll always be around and nobody who counts listens to them.

Sort of strange comments, as the game was pitched as being old school and similar to familiar game systems we all know. Oh, well. Sorry she didn't like it. That's exactly what I said. Also that we gave people a full two weeks (and then some) to express concerns or errors they found. She waited until we'd announced several times that we were already at press to send Tim a tirade. It's all very strange indeed. Ah, we had our first "your game sucks" complainer. I feel like a real publisher now! We have a saying here in Texas ... "some folks would complain if you hung them with a new rope." Don't let people like her discourage you. They'll always be around and nobody who counts listens to them. Oh, no doubt. I was by and large ready to laugh it off. Like I said, I feel like a real publisher now!
