At U-Con in Ann Arbor Ignatius will be running OD&D from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, November 23: Caverns of the Ice QueenGame/System OD&D (1974, with house rules) Gamemaster Ignatius Umlaut Players 2 - 8 Four groups of adventurers with disparate goals outwit a terrifying frost witch in her hidden grottoes deep under the silvery northern cordillera. Run by the editor and publisher of Fight On! (www.fightonmagazine.com), this adventure combines combat, strategic diplomacy, problem-solving, interesting roleplaying challenges, and nice minis/terrain. You can check out the u-con website here: www.ucon-gaming.org/Though registration isn't up yet. There is a little other old-school-ish stuff (Hackmaster, Savage Worlds, some Tekumel games that I'll be playing in using newer rulesets) but having been to this con before I can tell you it's usually a good one. It would be great to see some of you there!

It would be cool to meet some of you folks on Sunday, if any of you are going to be around!

I would LOVE to be in Ann Arbor for U*Con, but as it turns out, I will be in my dissertation defense from 3-5pm on Friday. That's two days, or more specifically, 53 hours and six minutes from now. Not that I'm counting or anything.
Have some fun for me; I will be probably trying to find my brain after my committee has made sure that I'm well-done on both sides and have stuck a fork in me.

Well, at least you won't have to choose between my game and the Tekumel Track on Sunday like George does. Good luck with your defense, Victor! Your PhD will be well-earned.

Enjoy the show, Sean, and let me know when you'll be in CA again---I'm thinking that I'm going to try to get our for Saturday of DunDraCon again in February. And, good luck with your dissertation defense, Victor! I bailed on my my PhD (and the additional years of student loans...) years ago, so you're a good man for sticking with it!

Join the club! Congratulations, Victor! Well deserved. The game was a success, I'll post a play report later. A lady who had played with photocopies of the original books her boyfriend had given her thirty years ago was among the folks who came out for it - that was a real treat. The others were mostly 1e, 3e, and 4e players but all had a good time (7 in the group plus me). At the end someone said "It doesn't get any more old school than that." More soon.
