Wait. Can clerics use non-magical edged weapons? Reading again I just realized that per Men & Magic, the cleric is limited to “non-edged magic weapons”. Also, arrows.. is the text referring to magical arrows?

No problem. It is not the clearest of wording. In essence, it seems that Gygax was mainly addressing only the use of magical weapons in the text, but the same restrictions were used for non-magical items, as in later editions. It is possible to parse the words to interpret the wording as clerics being allowed to use all non-magical weapons, but that's not what was intended and no one in Lake Geneva actually played that way.
BTW, nice choice of an avatar. I know that image from the RoleAids module, FEZ III: Angry Wizard, but I know it was also used on a fantasy novel around the same time.
