Yeah, that's how we used to do it. Photocopiers were hard to find and relatively expensive.

For a year only 1 guy in our gaming circle had the Cook/ Marsh Expert book, I copied a lot of stuff out of there by hand. Those halcyon days ...

My first tables were hand-written on lined notebook paper since my friend owned the book but I didn't. I had limited access to a photocopy machine back in the day, so some of my early games were played with just the Xeroxed tables sort of like a GM screen. Then when I got my TRS-80 computer I could start to type up the tables to look pretty and modify them as I liked. Seems like every few years my old computer files get lost or obsolete and so I start over and retype these sorts of things so that I can tweak them on my computer. I wish I had all of my old notebooks of hand-written notes, even though the typed versions were pretty cool.

The important part of taking notes in class is taking notes, not doing anything with them afterwards.

Here's a link discussing the science of it: www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-learning-secret-don-t-take-notes-with-a-laptop/

d**n, that is a nice vintage D&D notebook! The cover and notes look nice, but there is something missing that would make it feel more complete. What could it be? Oh yeah! Crude 'n juvenile notebook doodles!
Boy does that takes me back.
