I was just looking through some of my old stuff and found a cache of old miniatures from the late 70's. The paint jobs are terrible, and many of them have broken weapons, but it's awesome to find them again. I had repainted a large share of my old lead 5-6 years ago, but had missed these.
Some finds: 6 'Red Martian" figures from a John Carter line. The paint jobs are particularly terrible (I was 12 when I painted them) and all 6 sword are broken as well as 5 of 6 daggers. I think I used them as human bandits mostly.
Some interesting LOTR hobbits. One particularly interesting one is a set of 2 hobbits, one standing on the others shoulders, both leaning on a spear.
A bunch of LOTR rohirrim, that had heavy use as human fighters back in the old days. Most have broken weapons.
Some interesting archers, might be orcs, might be undead.
2 orc standard bearers, standards snapped off. I glued on some long-handled axes.
A bunch of dwarves and gnomes.
I reckon I have a new project, rebasing, re-arming and re-priming the lot.

Yay!---it's always good to find lost treasures Some finds: 6 'Red Martian" figures from a John Carter line. Sounds like Heritage Martians, perhaps? Some interesting LOTR hobbits. One particularly interesting one is a set of 2 hobbits, one standing on the others shoulders, both leaning on a spear. Probably a mix of Heritage hobbits + the duo with the spear sounds like a Grenadier figure. Too little detail to figure out the rest, though the Rohirrim are likely Heritage too; you could likely check at www.dungeon-dwellers.info/ to ID them if you're interested.

Wow I still use my 25 year old collection of lead miniatures including the painted Paladin figure I won at my D&D tournament in 1985. I will see about posting some screen shots this weekend. Can we say Gnome King sitting a tree stump folks?

I never bought any of the lead minis or anything that came after them either. Not sure why, just didn't. Look forward to seeing you post some pictures of them though.
