The contributor PDF for issue #2 is almost 50 megs. This is making it hard for me to send it to people who want it so far...none of my emails will allow me to send a file that big.
I guess I'll have to split it up into multiple files, but that's unattractive.
The other thing I could do is put it on 'direct access' at lulu for free - this creates a website which doesn't show up on lulu searches where you can download the PDF. Then when the PDF became available down the road, I could just change it to general access, put a price tag on it, and voila.
My gut feeling is that that will lead to giving away a lot of free PDFs though, before they're released for general distro. These things have a way of getting out there...
Any thoughts?

Create a "rapid share" or something similar with a password and email the password.

I guess the other possibility is that I could just leave it up there for a week and then close off access until it was time to sell the PDF directly. With the lulu option I mean.

I know those things exist, Zulg, but I guess I don't know how to do them myself. :-)

Myself, I will just buy the d**n thing in print, and be fine with it.

Uploading to a file share service is easy, albeit slow-going if you don't have a fast line.
I've used SendSpace for mp3 trades that size and larger.

Calithena,
50MB? How large are comparable .pdf on RPGNow? If their size is significantly smaller, then maybe it is the formating - maybe the saved, formated sizes of the images.
For a print version, the images should be in 150 dpi of higher.
For a .pdf version. the images should be at 72 dpi.
What you don't want to do is use the exact file used for the print version for the .pdf version.
Best regards,
Rainsford

Can't a lot of archiving programs split a single file into several, then smack 'em all back together when you unpack?
I'm pretty sure you can do that, but I haven't had the need to in years.
Then you could email it bit by bit without breaking the pdf.

I took care of the issue. The PDF will be easily available to contributors this week only. If you are a contributor who wants the PDF and don't know how to get it, gmail me and I'll send you the link.
